I'd say some wishful thinking.

I would love for Dixie to be that good but after watching them last year I am in the prove it box.

On Beechwood, I expect them to be right at the top of 2A again but I think Mayfield is the team to beat.

Dixie must have fired all their coaches, brought in a new roster, and been practicing everyday since their last game of the season.

I do it for my fans! And oh, big shell. The conch likes that.

  • Any starting QB at HHS this year not named Benke would be surprising. There is some young talent there for sure, but this lesson should have been learned last year.  There could/should be reps there f

Until Dixie's staff gets out of the forced fast-paced offense totally or - at minimum - introduces some flexibilty and more traditional packages mixed in with the no-huddle (especially when it's CLEARLY not working), I don't see them emerging.

If they do either of those two things...then I could see Dixie rolling. Will NEVER understand trying to force a system on a group not fit for that system.

This may be the funniest post in the history of this great site.  So well done, Big Shell.

You are thinking Mayfield even with Mahomes at QB for LCA?

LCA is going to have to prove it at some point and until then yes on Mayfield.

I like this one but could be convinced to flip CCH and HHS for the 1 & 2 and Cooper and Beechwood for the 3 & 4.

Is there something I don’t know about Highlands this year?

If Rash hadn't stepped down would they be higher on the list? And since Highlands CovCath was brought up, what's the QB competition situations at both schools? I've been around long enough to know not to put any faith in Dixie.

hard to tell at highlands. Benke has been playing baseball so he hasn't been at any football practices. looks like we will have to wait until the summer most likely to tell.

Any starting QB at HHS this year not named Benke would be surprising. There is some young talent there for sure, but this lesson should have been learned last year.  There could/should be reps there for younger guys, but not at starter and not in meaningful minutes.

My brief look through their 23 thread showed 3 guys on the OL coming back that really beat up a senior dominated CCH front (who only has 1 guy returning). That plus a returning QB and a really dynamic RB. As of now, I have a hard time seeing CCH getting stops early in the year.

Now, I’m fully expecting Cov Cath to also score a lot of points with how deep, experienced, big and athletic they are at WR/TE and QB. That’s why I’m 50/50 on it.

No, I think you are probably thinking correct.   I try not to be a sour grapes type of guy (at least in public forums).  Highlands started off sluggish last year but finished the season pretty strong.  They beat CCH in a very close game and finished tops in 5A in NKY.  Right or wrong I always put teams that finish first toward the top in a pre-season poll.   In my opinion they earned it until proven otherwise.   Now the reality is, that they lost some big-name players to graduation.  Charlie Noon being the most prominent along with several others.   I have watched Highlands Freshman and JV teams over the last couple of years and they have been pretty solid.   I haven't seen Charlie Noon part 2 emerge but none the less they have very solid teams at those levels' year in and year out.  Will that transfer to the varsity level?  Always a good question.   I will defer that question to someone with more knowledge than me about their current roster.

LCA and 'MAHOMES' ? got a warm Cardinal welcome when they visited War Memorial last year.

Quick question ... do you ever wonder why LCA quit running the ball against Mayfield in the Semi finals?

I understand how good Boley is ... at the same time ... sure felt like that game could have been closer if LCA would have kept running the football. LCA had great size and were solid run blockers upfront. Is it all in with Boley taking them to the promise land?

This may not be the place, but that game makes me scratch my head everytime I watch it.
