Before that game, the Chiefs had NEVER been a home underdog with Mahomes as the QB.  According to Yahoo from an article on October 11, 2022.  In regards to his record as the underdog while on the road or a neutral site, he has NEVER lost or lost against the spread. 

Mahomes is famously awesome against the spread as an underdog and the Chiefs have never been underdogs at home when he’s been the starting quarterback. The Chiefs are now 7-0-1 against the spread in games that Mahomes starts after they closed as 1-point underdogs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4. The Chiefs easily won that game, 41-31.

All eight of those games have been either on the road or at a neutral site. Mahomes’ first game as an underdog was his first NFL start in Week 17 of the 2017 season. The Chiefs were 3-point dogs and won the game by three.

KC was an underdog four times in 2018 and covered three times and pushed once. They then won outright as underdogs once in 2019 and once in 2020. The game at Tampa Bay less than two weeks ago was the first time KC was an underdog since Week 3 of the 2020 season.

The Bengals basically were daring the Chiefs to run the ball the last 3 times they played. This injury to Mahomes probably will make the Chiefs more content to take what the Bengals are giving them this time around. Which does worry me a little bit, because the Chiefs line is good and they can run the ball well when they decide to actually do it. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Chiefs offense get off to a good start as the Bengals try to figure out how the Chiefs are going to play this game with an injured Mahomes. However, the Bengals and Lou have earned my trust to figure it out and adjust to eventually slow them down. On offense for the Bengals as long as the line plays well, I think the Bengals score 30 or more and win the game.

Mahomes is still going to be very dangerous.  I was watching a replay of the Chiefs and Jaguars game last night.  Mahomes was still throwing on target TD jump passes on one leg after the injury.

Never said he wouldn’t be dangerous. The man doesn’t even have to step and can still throw it over 50 yards like it’s nothing. My point is with his injury, I do think it will make the Chiefs be more willing to take what the Bengals are giving them. Which the Bengals basically have dared them to commit to running the ball the last 3 games. Yet the Chiefs kept trying to throw into 8 guys dropping back. They are still obviously going to use Mahomes a lot, I just think they will be more patient and will run the ball more when the Bengals are basically daring them to.

This is a general observation, the "Bengals" are doing a lot more talking than they used to do and I don't like it.  Let the results speak.

My biggest concern is Kansas City running the ball.
