  • You probable know Raceland as the "Rams", one of only two schools in the state that have that mascot, but in the early years, Raceland was not the "Rams", but the "Ramblers".  They were so called beca

Newport Central Catholic High School, a home field decades in the making.
The small school on the hill of Newport overlooking the Cincinnati Skyline will now be able to host games.

The school’s latest capital campaign has prompted the construction as it continues on the Ciafardini Family Athletic Complex with the field to be named after long time head coach Bob Schneider.
The scoreboard has been installed. Shoutout to Punky’s Pixels, one of NCC’s corporate sponsors, for their work on this.
While the turf is laid down, no games expected this calendar year. Students can expect to start using it in the spring, and I believe a track & field event will be hosted there.
Photos below were recently shared by the school’s social media page.

Here are some great shots of North Oldham's Mustang Stadium. They were taken back in August by Freeman Kelly Dronography out of Georgetown. That's another great photographer to follow on Facebook and Instagram (fkellydrone).

I didn't realize that North Oldham was another school that used their school colors for their turf rather than "natural" green. I also dig it that the center field logo looks the same from both the home stands and visitor stands.

That last shot is what I remember hot, sweaty, stinky and covered in dust and sweat. There’s a lot of football history spilled on that ground that’s undocumented unless you were there. Can’t wait to see a varsity game on that ground.

Parking?  I see this great NewCath project as going to be the source of a lot of senior citizen fights on game nights.  Older alumni will be thrashing each other over the 5 handicap spots as their only other option is walking the hill from below.  ?

Floyd Central High School in eastern Kentucky is situated at the bottom of a steep hill while their football field is at the top. When I went to a game there several years ago, they used school buses as back and forth shuttles to assist with this very problem. I would image Newport Catholic could do something similar, although I don't know what bus availability is like at private schools compared to public.

People can park at my mom's house and I'll shuttle them back and forth for $5 a person.

In all seriousness, Newport Shopping Center appears the walking the hill option for parking.
