2023 Mayfield Cardinals

Recommended Posts

I know many Cardinals fans felt like 2022 was the year. I think they might have been off by a year. Looking at their roster, 2023 looks like the year the Cardinals team poised to get back that championship trophy. The Cardinals are loaded. The only position area that needs help in 2023 is WR, and that is a position which is never a problem finding players at Mayfield. It may be presumptuous and perhaps even offensive to the 3 time champion Beechwood Tigers, but the question is appropriate. Are the Mayfield Cardinals the favorite in 2A in 2023?

Biggers, the leading receiver and rusher for Murray, enrolled at Christmas at Mayfield.  He brings immediate help to the Cards cause at both receiver and DB.  The Cards should be in the top few this coming year.

Does he have a kin relative that Coaches at Murray?

From another thread:

Xavier Biggers.  Big addition on both sides of the ball.  His dad Terrence played for Mayfield and went on to play at Murray State as well.

There is a long history there, Xavier’s grandfather Chris also played at Mayfield and Murray State. He also played during the Marcus Moss era, who is the highest rated recruit to play for Mayfield, and to date Moss says Chris Biggers was a better rb than he.

At first blush I would have to say Mayfield is the favorite in 2A this year.

Without the transfer of Biggers I would have put them at the top of the class.  Now I don't know exactly what Beechwood brings back or who LCA will get enrolling next year but I do know that Mayfield returns a lot and with Biggers moving in it adds another weapon to replace what they lost.

Cartwright returns from this past year so no change there.

The ONeal kid will be a nice backup QB for Mayfield, can he play anywhere else?

Also a fan of Malik Kirbys game, hope to see him have a breakout sophomore season.

Cartwirght developed really good during his Jr. campaign.  Having him back with JuJu in the backfield will have Mayfield as frontrunners in 2A and favorites to get back to Kroger.

I heard that Maddox O'Neal may not be a Cardinal next year.  That would be a tough loss after Cartwright graduates.  O'Neal is a very good young Qb. Heard he is moving back to McCracken.

That would be news. His mother is a teacher for the Mayfield school system and their buying a house in Mayfield. Anything is possible.
