The Storm Prediction Center has raised the possible severe weather threat to a level 2 Slight Risk for western Kentucky. A level 1 Marginal Risk Area is in effect to just west of I-65.

For western Kentucky:

The best chance of severe weather will be after midnight Monday night into early Tuesday over southeast Missouri and adjacent portions of southern Illinois and west Kentucky.  Instability is limited currently but shear is quite favorable.  Damaging winds and a few tornadoes will be the primary severe weather threat.

For the Marginal Risk Area:

Multiple rounds of showers and storms will impact the region late tonight through early Wednesday morning. Isolated strong to severe storms are possible during this timeframe.  If isolated instances of severe weather occur in the region, damaging straight-line winds are most likely in the storms, with small hail and an isolated tornado possible. Outside of storms, gusty southerly winds of 30 to 40 mph will be possible Monday night through Tuesday.
