Anybody know if coach rash has a lucky rabbits foot on his pocket during these games.. man the sure does seem to win those absolute mail bitters. Man might should play the lottery. 
 

I also agree the best two teams played in 2A.

You could do that, sure, but it's silly to say that Beechwood's lines would bully any line from any class. Look what they did (or should I say "didn't") do against Cov Cath.

I don’t believe he will. Yes, Clay missed some wide open throws today but overall he’s the more poised passer and his accuracy should improve over the next couple years. I could see Cash getting moved to receiver. He’s extremely important to the basketball program so it would make sense. Maybe reassess his senior year after Hayden’s gone.

I spent a several years absolutely FRUSTRATED with Mayfield who was a huge thorn in the Tigers side.  Easy to hate.  Prior to todays game, two Mayfield fans stopped us to say how much class Beechwood had.  Then we went into the game to see the appreciation plaque awarded, and God help me, it made me cry a little.  Very classy and kind on Mayfield’s part.

I have a whole new appreciation/affection for the rivalry. Look forward to playing again. Still want Beechwood to win, but a future Mayfield win won’t make me lose any sleep anymore.

 

 

I watched the game via livestream, and above anything I noticed the sportsmanship between both teams, they helped each other up and gave pats on the helmet until the final horn. Thank you Beechwood and thank you Mayfield.

Correct. A lot of the defensive players were freshman and sophomores. I’m sure BW/LCA will be the preseason favorites again next season.

Mayfield started 4 seniors on defense. Overall, 13 of the 22 positions on the title game starters were underclassmen.

Beechwood started 10 underclassmen of the 22 starting slots. Beechwood has a very good group of sophomores. The Tigers lose a great group of seniors who have three titles on their resume. I will not rule out the current sophomores from being able to do the same. They got number one tonight.

Agree with you sir. The lines, defense, and special teams have won the last three for BW IMO. Great game to watch. Kudos to Mayfield and your community for standing tall despite the adversity handed to ya’ll. Very inspiring story. 

Crappy way for such a good game to end.  In 2014 Mayfield beat Williamsburg in overtime in the same fashion so they've experienced it from both sides.  After Mayfield couldn't punch in the 4th and goal from a half yard in the first quarter, Beechwood took the slight edge and kept it the rest of the game.  They ran the ball more effectively than Mayfield.  That and the kicking game was the difference.  Hate it for Mayfield's kicker.  He had a great year, just missed one of the few that he did at the worst possible time.  Both teams passing games were ugly.  Proud of the Cards for how they played this season.  There is a lot to be excited about for next years team.  Congrats to Beechwood on three in a row.

Congrats Beechwood!  I am sad beyond words for my Cards and will let the agony of defeat burn off for a few days.

Couldn’t disagree with you more. It was evident yesterday that 1 QB is immobile with a cannon of an arm. It was proved true during the gauntlet first half of the season that the other has true field vision, escapability, and an arm. Why would anyone discount an open QB battle at this point?  If you do, you’re biased. Open it up, best man wins. But to close a competition at this point is crazy to me. Bottom line is two good options for a HS football team. With Flaherty and the other stud RBs, I’m going with the Hergott style. It’s proven. ?

That’s not even the most exciting news for next year. Big 2A transfer coming home starting January! HUGE!!! Mayfield will be there again next year!!!
