Beechwood was the better team. Their line play won them the game. Mayfield had a chance but fell slightly short. Next year will be the same. Beechwood, Mayfield and LCA with Owensboro Catholic playing for the title.

You’re absolutely right. The beauty is that this team is young and there isn’t a ton of kids graduating. The defensive line is young and you saw the pressure they put on BW offensive line. With all that said congrats beechwood fans.

Before tonight’s Mayfield vs Beechwood coin toss at the state football finals, time was taken by community and school leaders of one city to say thank you to the other for the tremendous outpouring of generosity and support following the tornado that devastated Mayfield nearly one year ago.  That, in and of itself, made the trip worthwhile.  It was a touch of class and well done. #kentuckystrong

Beechwood did not have a very good offensive game (testament to Mayfield)…but QB missed some very open receivers that could have broken this one open (he’s young). However…their defense won the game for them! Impressive to play poorly and still win. Hats off to Mayfield! Devastated less than a year ago and come close to knocking off Beechwood tonight. Impressive! This game had all of the old school feels!!!

In hindsight, mayfield should’ve let the beechwood rb score on that long run. They would’ve gotten the ball back with time, down 8. I know there’s no way to tell the kid that at the time, I was saying it to the tv lol

I know Mayfield had Beechwood's number until the last couple years, but I love playing them in these big games. They do things the Beechwood way. Their fans are knowledgeable and show great sportsmanship. Great teams, great coaching, great fans. And tonight a great game. Let's do it again next year Mayfield!
