The thing I'd like anyone to explain to me is what harm is done by keeping the playoffs as we currently have them?

I don’t know about “harm,” but some people believe the playoffs is a privilege, others clearly don’t. 

It’s about the kids, right? Let’s ask the kids on these zero/one/two/three win teams if they care about playing that 11th game that they are going to get their brain beat in. I’ve had some of those conversations, and I was on a couple of those teams. I know the answer.

True, but not every third or even fourth place team is the same. Not all feel like that. If a team is that bad, let the team opt out of the playoffs or forfeit if the players truly don't want to play. Don't penalize teams that want to play. 

Wake me up when the 2nd round ends. A few good matchups this round but 3rd round is where it really gets going.

Agreed!  3rd round is going to be crazy!!

Only one team not seeded #1 or #2 advances to the region finals - 6A Henderson County, who pull the upset 41-34 over a McCracken County team that had defeated them (at Henderson County) two weeks prior by a 55-42 score.  If there was one game you could have circled among the 15 three and four seeds that had advanced, it was probably this one.  The Colonels prove to be the only thing standing between us and a clean 1 & 2 seed sweep.

Which screams only two teams per district should make the postseason.

Last year only three made it - North Bullitt in 5A (3 seed), Barren County in 6A (3 seed), and Madison Central in 6A (4 seed).  Now, admittedly, the Barren County and Madison Central runs were cool and very unexpected.  Extreme, extreme outliers.  

Only one team below a 2 seed made it in 2023 - McCracken County in 6A (3 seed).

I think it is also telling that in three years there has only been one team seeded below two to make it in any class below 6A.

There are 14 teams seeded 3 or 4 that won in round 1. That is why you shouldn't restrict it to the 1 and 2 seeds only in the playoffs.

No reason to lower the amount of teams that make it. Every other sport, has every team make the postseason and blowouts too. Now is there a way to make things better? Absolutely. 
 

Get rid of districts. Allow teams to schedule 10 games on their own. Use a computer system to decide the playoff teams. You can keep it similar in regards to top 16 teams from the east and top 16 from the west. First three rounds is seeded in the east side and west side. Then by semi finals it doesn’t matter if your in east or west like currently. 

It’s all about money. More teams in the playoffs, more games, more gate $$. It’s not about that quality of the games.

None until the six Championship games in Lexington. People need to do their research before making wild assumptions.

When I say money, I mean money for the schools. They split the gate. Why would any team turn that down? Teams # 3 & 4 in that district aren’t going to turn that down.

I may be wrong, but I think the home team has to give more of the gate to the away team for travel expenses, at least in the playoffs. That’s what I was told last week anyway. Not sure if that is true.

I’m not 100% how it works as far as “split”. I just know that both teams get a chuck of the pie. Official pay and travel expenses definitely have to factored in. I also know that the ticket prices for playoff games go up.
