Don't want to  put words in people's mouth, but I think Marvin thought it was a good idea... thought it was more equitable/fair way to do postseason.  

I would like to pursue the Louisiana Select/Non Select approach. It sounds like an idea that has some potential. 

I looked up the Louisiana system and it just renames public-private split. Select schools are private and non-select are public. Too few private schools in Kentucky for this to work. Plus all public schools have open enrollment. Maybe could add public schools that take students out of their resides area to the select group and public schools that don't take out of resides area kids can play in non-select.

I may have misunderstood, but I thought Marvin said they looked at where your students lived, who were enrolled in your school.

Here is an article that says last year allowed some public schools with magnet characteristics into the select group then there was a lawsuit to stop that so seems confusion is the current status.

I read though it, all I see is Louisiana kicking the private schools out and once they got that accomplished they started trying to kick the Beechwood's and Highlands' and Belfry's and Male's out.  Louisiana is an absolute joke if you ask me.  However, none of this discussion belongs in this thread.  If anyone wants to discuss it further please start a new thread.

Back on page four, in 2022, I made this post and it is still true today.  I am going to advocate for the players that feel they are trapped into playing a game that they should not be asked to play.  

If we were in a vacuum and they were able to say anything they wished without fear of retribution or judgment, they would opt to not play.

KHSAA has evolved into the best solution for this. Let teams who want to quit withdraw from the tournament. No penalty. Just let them quit. Let the teams who want to play, play on.

That would be great if it was that simple.  Football players are taught many things to make them better people after football is over, and one of those things is to never quit.  If a team is asked if they want to play, the players feel obligated to say, "yes", to do otherwise would be quitting on their team, their coaches, their school, and their friends.  Like I said, if we were able to ask them in a vacuum, many would say they didn't want to play a first round playoff game after suffering a terrible season.  

This is where the adults should make a better option for those young players.  Don't make them make a tough decision of feeling like they are letting everyone down.  Give them something better.  Let the season end, or let those that don't make the playoffs play a non-playoff game against a like opponent.  Something.

Right, the KHSAA/Adults shouldn't be "forcing" the kids/schools to make a decision not to play.  That says, either quit or shut up and take it.  Sanctioned bullying anyone?

"Quit or shut up and take it", is just an easy out for the ones making the rules.  It's a way of saying, "we gave you options", without really giving anyone an option.  A way of putting the blame on someone they forced into a no-win situation.  Meanwhile, the players are the ones losing, literally and figuratively.
