I may be out a little on a limb here but I would say every former Trinity state championship team would beat every team in Kentucky this year.

If we're talking Beatty era, maybe. But the '68 Shamrocks? I think any team from that long ago would be at a significant size and speed disadvantage against today's teams.

I would say a lot of teams could beat everyone from this season I don’t think this is one of the better years of great teams. But I think a lot of Trinity and Highlands teams have to be considered in top 10 greatest teams of all time there was spans of years where those teams were just dominant.

Nobody has mentioned the 1982 Birds.  Now that team might have been the best defense ever at Highlands.

I said I was getting out there a little bit but more to you point I think it goes back far beyond Coach Beatty.

Hands down the best I have ever seen in N. II give him the nod over Alexander because he almost never came off the field. His performance against trinity in the rec. bowl was classic. The touchdown on the final play of the half vs covcath was impossible to describe. Would love for someone to dig it up and post it on here.

Agree they beat Christian County that year who won the 4A state championship. After getting beat by Highlands in the Rec Bowl they won every game pretty handily lead by Jerry Reese who’s probably the best NG in KY high school history.

For 2 consecutive years, Lexington Catholic only lost 2 games each year.  (1999-2000)

All four losses were to, Boyle County.

35-21 on one of the coldest nights I can recall.  Ask Rebel.  

The 1988 Pikeville Panthers have entered the chat. 
 

Dual speed demon running backs in Hackney and Dramus, and they ran a misdirection offense to boot. 
 

If memory serves they had a huge d lineman and a linebacker who had a D1 scholarship. 
 

Also if memory serves they were rated in the top 3 in the across all classes. 
 

Those were men playing against boys.
