What kind of dressing on your salad?

Featured Replies

The only ranch dressing I am ok with is Peppercorn ranch. I would eat salad plain over eating any other ranch or Thousand Island. Here is my list of favorites:

1. Blue Cheese (by a wide margin)

2. Red french

3. Zesty Italian

If it is a salad with chicken tenders on top, Honey Mustard.

Honey mustard or French.  I don't really like ranch much but I will say that Rafferty's restaurant has the best ranch dressing every made in-house from scratch.

I ate at Rafferty's once and it made me thankful I live in a place where Rafferty's isn't the only option. ?

  • I have had a lot of luck at Rafferty's.

A lot of generic answers on this thread (Thousand, Ranch, etc).

Here are two that I really like:

Marzetti  - Sweet Vidalia Onion, and Ken's Steak House - Honey Mustard.

If I'm getting Ranch, I make it Kraft's Ranch/Cucumber.

Raspberry vinaigrette on most.   I do like Caesar salads and I like bleu cheese on a chop or wedge salad.

Salt and pepper with a splash of olive oil.

Whatever Malone's puts on their Lexingtonian salad, it's ranch but a bit different to me.

Then French would be my #2.

Oil and vinegar.

I am a sucker for those great balsamics you get at specialty stores. My favorite pairing I do is blood orange olive oil and a fig based balsamic. I eat this on salad no less than five times a week.

If we are talking bottled dressings, Primal Kitchen's Caesar dressing is hard to beat.

Lite Italian, Creamy Italian, House Italian, Ranch, French, Caesar.

It all depends on the mood.

Ranch - a good homemade version is usually better than store bought.  At home, we like the Aldi brand.

Italian - always have a bottle of Olive Garden in the fridge and always Italian at LaRosa's

French/Catalina - was always my go-to at a buffet

Vinaigrette - almost any style

I've never seen Sweet Visalia Onion from Marzetti, but I regularly use this flavor from Ken's. If I'm out, my choice is usually 1000 Island. Unlike the rest of the world, Ranch dressing does nothing for me. I don't dislike it, but I'll typically only get it if it's the only other thing available.

I like Marzetti’s dressings, but like I said, I’ve never seen this in the store. The poppyseeds though would probably keep me from buying.

Am guessing you are going to tell me how unhealthy it is.

At 75 I eat what I enjoy.  This dressing over 1/2 head of Iceberg lettuce with some chopped egg, bacon bits, and croutons works for me.

I used this one tonight as my base in making a hot bacon dressing over fresh spinach, served heated with bacon pieces, some bacon grease, chopped egg, and blue cheese crumbles - delicious!!!

One of my favorites is the Good Seasons Italian dressing my wife makes up for us.
