I'm sure the family moved into district and thus, the transfer.  Timing is odd considering the school year is about over.  The rich get richer!

Yeah... Corbin to Boyle County is a long commute. As long as it's a bonafide change of residence he should be ruled immediately eligible. Often wonder how kids at school you are leaving handle it. Corbin has a nice program, but I guess Boyle presents better opportunities for the young man and family. I no longer speculate about transfers. I just watch.

Nothing nefarious here.  Family moving to Boyle.  Maybe he wanted to attend one of the best academic public high schools in Kentucky.  Maybe he wanted a chance to win a state championship.  I’m sure a

Confused on a couple things here.  Do high school’s make an announcement of transfers?  Also if kid moved why would he be anything but eligible?

The kids at the school you are leaving will continue to show up everyday and play football. There's nothing to "handle". Yes it might be disappointing. Yes your old buddies may get a little mad at you. But the football world isn't going end at Corbin because of this.

Could be a win-win for both programs.  If the kid is unhappy, that's going to have a negative effect on his teammates.  I wouldn't slight Corbin and its academics, so I'm sure strictly a football move.  Corbin's best offense the past few seasons have been getting the ball to Seth Mills, and then having Huff last year as well made those two their top threats.  Patterson is a good prospect, but I was not blown away by his or Longemire ball skills.

Understand that. I know sometimes young people feel differently.

32 and 22 catches in a year isn't a great chance to showcase your ball skills. Two four stars out wide, one RB that is going to Indiana St on scholarship, another RB walking on at EKU.. and you choose to just run inside zone the majority of the time isn't a great opportunity to showcase the talent that your team holds.

Those 2 RBs were studs at the high school level.  The best prospects aren't always the best players at the HS level.  I didn't watch enough to examine the whole scheme.  I did see both have drops though.  Good luck to him moving forward.

Totally Unofficial Top 5 Reasons for the Transfer

1. Haddix Relationship.

2. Didn't want to see the same exact storyline play out as it did for Treyveon Longmire.  (Shocked this hasn't been mentioned more)

3. Get that ring.

4. Corbin Dysfunction.

5. Better School District.

Hate to bash the kid, but there is more to football than your 40 time.  Longmire speed is nice, but what about the other qualities that make up a good football player??? Patterson is a better player IMO.

When did Corbin become a bad school district? ?

I think #2 would scare anyone with a offer that watched what happened last season and #1 , #5, and #3 would be a added bonus.

Corbin high school's proximity to the Corbin Root Beer stand would have been enough to keep me in Corbin!!!

The kid has several  offers and will probably commit to UK.

The new rules go into place July 1?

From what I have read, the KHSAA doesn't have any say in this anymore. There aren't exceptions. Either you move into the district or you sit out a year. That's it.

I've yet to see anyone explain what this means:

specify that no provisions are intended to override current rules and regulations adopted by the Kentucky High School Athletics Association, including transfers.

Where is that language? KRS?
