The fact that Male went 3-0 against Ballard this year is very impressive.

If that is, in fact, double birds to their student section, that is the easiest call in the history of technicals.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a technical for celebrating in the championship game of a regional tournament after a team goes up by 4 with 8.9 seconds remaining. Ballard made both technical shots and

I have to think the ref made the correct call.

It appeared that as he was walking toward the bench after the timeout was called, Dez Lindsey made an obscene gesture toward the Ballard student section.  That is what resulted in the technical.

After watching it a couple of times, I saw the same thing.  And it was right in front of the official.  Still don't like the call so much, a warning at that point would have been more warranted.

That’s how it appeared from the video I saw. Not the best quality but if you zoom in it’s apparent what he was doing. Not the best time you like to see a call like that but I think it was the right call no matter the time or score.

What a last game for Coach Renner.  A great career that was definitely filled with some heartbreaking defeats along the way!

What a joke of a call!

You care to expound on this?  This seems as obvious of a technical foul as you could have, what exactly makes this referee's call a "joke"?

Refs called 3 technicals and from just viewing on computer, only one deserved.

I hate that for the region tourneys that officials are shipped in.

After viewing the video closer a Technical foul was definitely warranted.

I still don’t understand the double tech called later after a foul against S Brown of Male.

That does not take away from the great show put on by both teams last night

Great game!

Ballard made both technical shots and then scored on the inbound to tie and send the game into overtime. Unless there is something else that happened that I’m not aware of I just don’t like seeing officials inject themselves into the possible outcome of the game like that. The tv announcers said it was whistled for “over celebrating”.

He flipped the double bird and choice words to the Ballard crowd right next to the official.  Whether he should have called it or not is debatable.  The T on Selah was deserved he actually threw a punch.  The T on Ballard in my opinion was a cover for the T called to make it off setting.  The Ballard player was on the other side of the court and the official that called was on the other side.

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, a double bird flip to the crowd is deserving of a T. That’s so undisciplined. I was just going on what the tv announcers said they thought it was called for.
He could have cost his team the game but they finally won in the 3rd OT. But without his T they would have won in regulation and saved all the sweat and nervous tension for Male. I hope the young man learned a valuable lesson.

Man.  I would have loved to watch this game!

No excuse for this. Right call was made. Can't let emotions get the best of you. This is definitely a learning experience.

It SHOULD be a learning experience but short term I’d say it wasn’t.

For him to actually learn from it, action should have been taken immediately by his coach. No action was taken.

He stayed in the game until he fouled out.

Now is there some action taken during the week between games that will help the young man learn from it? Only the folks in the H family know the answer to that.
