Correct. That is what every public school should aspire to. Build it and they will come.

Well this game is the one we have all been expecting. I have thought and thought about this game and while I can’t vote against Beechwood, this game just scares me. The revenge factor for LCA is a huge key to this game. They have had 365 days to stew over the loss in the Championship game from last year. While I understand that there isn’t a coach in all of Kentucky High School Football that I would rather have than Coach Rash. He has a special talent at getting a team ready to play these types of games and I expect this game to be no different. Beechwood had a hard time stopping Mr. Brown last year but I believe that Coach Rash will have the boys ready for him this time around. I think this will be another back and forth tight game but Hergott will find a way to pull it out in the end. This will be the first Beechwood State Championship game I have not been at since the loss to Pikeville down at Western Kentucky in 2015. I am so sad about it.

Beechwood- 28

Xavier Brown is truly the "X" factor in this game. Without him, I would have very high confidence that Beechwood wins. Can Beechwood control the number of big plays by X? He will make some big plays. Beechwood must keep those to a minimum.

100%. I had some time to kill waiting for a flight yesterday and watched some of the Boyle and LCA game. Brown was outstanding in that game.... however, I felt that LCA really could have used him much more than they did. Not sure if in their other games they tend to limit his touches somewhat as well? I know LCA has a lot of weapons, however, if the coach is not primarily going to #20 on Friday, it would be a big mistake IMO.

Joining in on the fun

This game is obviously highly anticipated. Both teams have been as advertised, and the storyline tells itself. In my opinion, the game comes down to the QB play of LCA, if Beechwood can capitalize on mistakes made by LCA, and turnover battle. LCA is going to be able to run the ball and do a really good job against the run. To me, it is getting them in 3rd and long situations and forcing Nieves to make plays in the pocket. But that is easier said than done. LCA also has to be able to take care of the ball. Beechwood does a great job of forcing turnovers and I think LCA can be a little turnover prone as they put the ball on the ground numerous times against us (Danville) in our first matchup.

Also, LCA has 2 capable RBs behind Brown that can catch some by surprise when Brown is split out wide with Moore. With attention on the outside (Brown and Moore) along with motion, moving parts pre snap, and LCA's strength, it can cause some problems in the 2nd and medium, 3rd and medium ranges.

I got to attend Beechwood & Mayfield game this past weekend and was impressed by Beechwood D and Berger for sure.

This game will be really fun to watch and I'm certainly glad I can be in attendance again for round 2 of these two juggernauts. Good luck to both teams!

I think this game will be close at halftime with LCA scoring a late 4th quarter TD to seal a 38-28 victory.

As a sore bottomed Mayfield fan, and I stress fan, I think everyone should be cautious in how much weight you place on the Beechwood mauling of Mayfield.  Before the season I believe most informed fans knew that getting to the final 4 was this years likely ceiling.  Considering the 2020 Cards campaign, reaching the final 4 was a huge improvement. That all said, make no mistake, Beechwood has a whale of a team and clearly so does LCA.  These are the best two in 2A and the up their in the entire state reguardless of class.  I have not done enough to say who I think wins but we certainly have the top two teams in the title game by a huge margin.

One team all year has scored 2 TD's against Beechwood first team defense. Last year against a lesser defense LCA scored 17 in regulation time. Why do so many people think LCA will score 30+?

Pick your poison,  that's just on offense. LCA is not just the Xavier Brown show folks. On defense you have the top two sacks leaders in 2A with Tyler Morris (11.5 LCA) and Xavier Campbell (12 BW). Parker Chaney (6) and Mason Moore (4) have a combined 10 int's, two pick 6's for LCA. These two teams have dudes all over the field on both sides of the ball. Tighten your chinstrap this will be a good one.

VOR asked why people think LCA will score 30+ when they only mustered 17 last year. My answer is the difference is a healthy Xavier Brown this year.

Just in case anyone is interested:

I picked LCA.

Just like last year, I hope I am wrong.

These two teams were so even last year.  Beechwood made the plays that they had to have to pull off the win but LCA probably came out thinking that they let one slip away on a couple of special teams plays.  I think this season they hit the kick and pull it off 24-21.

That being said it would not shock me at all to see Beechwood win.  And I'd really like to see the public school pull this one out.

They are far from a “public school”

Beechwood is what every public school should aspire toward in academics, culture and extracurriculars.
