  1. I believe Danville plays Lincoln in Death Valley Bowl this year. Garrard should playing Somerset I think.
  2. Also, Tre Paige should be returning next year and is only a freshman. He is kind of forgotten due to being lost to injury. From my understanding, he had a lingering knee injury that forced him to shut down for the season. He appeared in 10 games this season and started a couple at the beginning. Also, Mason Engle (transfer from Boyle) sat out this year after transferring around Christmas and ACL surgery recovery. He at least adds another big body that can help with the Ads size issue. Should be good to go in about a month or so to resume basketball activity.
  3. I expect a high pace, physical game. I'm going to go with Mason by 8. I'm taking experience and what I think is the better team. Mason has plenty of ball handlers to handle the Bracken D IMO.
  4. Danville came to play but just fell short to a more experienced team. I feel like Danville was successful for most of the game by causing turnovers on defense and attacking the rim. Obviously in comeback mode in the 4th they started taking some questionable shots and got away from what was being successful. Hopefully they learn from that in the future. Big turning point in the game was Hill fouling out with about 3:30 in the 3rd quarter. Your only player above 6'0 in the rotation fouling out that early will obviously cause problems. On the other side though, Imfield and Tarter both were in foul trouble and ended up fouling out mid 4th. If Danville could have just stopped the bleeding and kept it to an 8-10 point game rather than 16-18, they could've possibly made a run at tying or the win. Was a great game and atmosphere to attend!
  5. Big loss in Ontario Hill early in the game. Hopefully he will be able to play on Wednesday. This however, allowed Beeman to come in and shine off the bench. High energy kid that plays very tough and will get in and fight for rebounds and loose balls. Fun fact: This is his first year of organized ball. The addition of Hannibal also has helped this team tremendously. He brings another mature ball handler that knows the game and can get his teammates in position to be successful. Things seem to be clicking a little bit for the young Ads and could provide their best game against Boyle. Best game I've personally seen from Bryant who had a career high 24. Shot the ball with confidence, played smart, and was able to be that guy in the middle of the zone. If he can stay hot on Wednesday, it would certainly be helpful! Great season for DCA! Good luck to both teams on Wednesday! Go Ads!
  6. Congrats to Josh! Good luck to him and LC this upcoming season!
  7. Congrats to Coach Crutchfield on having the opportunity to go home! Good luck to the Golden Lions!
  8. Joining in on the fun This game is obviously highly anticipated. Both teams have been as advertised, and the storyline tells itself. In my opinion, the game comes down to the QB play of LCA, if Beechwood can capitalize on mistakes made by LCA, and turnover battle. LCA is going to be able to run the ball and do a really good job against the run. To me, it is getting them in 3rd and long situations and forcing Nieves to make plays in the pocket. But that is easier said than done. LCA also has to be able to take care of the ball. Beechwood does a great job of forcing turnovers and I think LCA can be a little turnover prone as they put the ball on the ground numerous times against us (Danville) in our first matchup. Also, LCA has 2 capable RBs behind Brown that can catch some by surprise when Brown is split out wide with Moore. With attention on the outside (Brown and Moore) along with motion, moving parts pre snap, and LCA's strength, it can cause some problems in the 2nd and medium, 3rd and medium ranges. I got to attend Beechwood & Mayfield game this past weekend and was impressed by Beechwood D and Berger for sure. This game will be really fun to watch and I'm certainly glad I can be in attendance again for round 2 of these two juggernauts. Good luck to both teams! I think this game will be close at halftime with LCA scoring a late 4th quarter TD to seal a 38-28 victory.
  9. LCA is very creative on how they get their playmakers the ball. They have a lot of moving parts, a ton of motion to get defenses moving. I think the key is to get aligned correctly and bring multiple hats to the ball One thing that isn't talked about much with LCA and Brown is how strong they are. If Brown gets to the second level it is extremely difficult for corners/safeties to take him down 1 on 1 due to how strong he is. So, to me, containing him running the ball you have to keep him from getting to the second level, but LCA does such a good job of designing and executing plays to get him 1 on 1 at the second level. Like many have said here, easier said than done in stopping him.
  10. Danville has some freshman with potential, just have to match that potential with work. Tre Paige (6'2, G), Demauriah Brown (5'10, G), Ontario Hill (6'5, F), Cam Jackson (6'2, G/F) are all freshman and got significant playing time last night. Paige was a starter, but all of these kids will probably get their shot at starting at some point during the season. Dunn averaged over 8 RPG last year and his motor is great. Can do just about anything needed on the court. Danville will be drastically undersized this year IMO, and will need to play great defense, box out/rebound as a team, and get out in transition to be successful. Playing scrappy allowed Danville to stay in the game for about 3 quarters. Woodford is an extremely solid squad and will get even better throughout the year as their players start to jell and they get all of their football guys transitioned back over. Jackson and McClear will cause some problems down low as they are extremely long and athletic. Jackson moved really well for a big, took it coast to coast once for an easy lay over the undersized Danville D. All in all, I think it was a solid opening night for both teams. Good luck to Woodford the rest of the season!
