Let's say UGA were to win out, then lose to SEC West champ in conference title game.  In or out, in the following scenarios?

1. Close loss to Bama. In

2. Blowout loss to Bama, 17+ points. Out

3. Close loss to A&M or Auburn. In

4. 10 point or worse loss to A&M or Auburn. Out

Or

Loses a regular season game, but still wins conference championship. In

My thoughts in bold.

Gotta be thrilled if your an OSU or UC fan, I think both might be in if they win out.

  • I always love these snapshot tweets as if all of these are perennial top 25 programs.

  • I think Alabama, Oregon and Oklahoma all lose by the end of the regular season. OSU, Michigan and Michigan State between them will have at least 2 more losses just from each other.  If UC wins ou

The team at #3 has a MUCH better win than any thing Michigan State has. Oregon is getting a serious boost from going into Columbus and winning, as they should.

I do think that OSU win has big value. I also think losing to a 3 win team is a big negative that greatly discounts the big win.

I think UGA pretty much locks up a CFP spot as long as they make it to the SEC CCG.

They have been the most dominant team all year and one loss isn't going to keep them out, IMO.

I think the more interesting question when it comes to UGA is: Will they have a win against a team in the final CFP Top 25?

Arkansas is out with a loss.

Auburn could be out depending on who another loss comes to.

Clemson has 0 chance at being ranked.

Kentucky could sneak back in the final CFP poll if they finish at 9-3.

How?  They are not ranked now and have no ranked opponents in the rest of their schedule to justify such an astronomical jump to the top 4?

Top 25 make the list.  He didn't say they would make the playoffs.

Oops, read that wrong, sorry.

I don't disagree with these chances, but if a situation actually arises that they take ND ahead of an undefeated UC after losing a head to head against them AND not playing in a conference championship then this entire system is as much of a farce as we know it is.

Anything the committee has ever said about what it takes to make it would be out the window at that point.

Correct. But as we've learned, let it all play out before we start talking about how bad this system is. How it is designed now - for better or worse - is to select the four best teams. We can maybe point to an instance or two of a selection being debatable, but it generally buffs out in the end.

Notre Dame lost at HOME to Cincinnati. That should nullify them being rated anywhere above the Bearcats. If not it's a flawed system. Plus, it proves that Notre Dame has maximum leverage clout because, well...., they're Notre Dame..

ESPN playoff predictor is predicting a UC loss to Houston in the AAC CCG...that's why Notre Dame is being given a higher chance at making the CFP than UC in the above picture. Heather Dinich explained that when asked about it during an ESPN segment a day or 2 ago.

Surprisingly, she went on to explain that if UC finishes undefeated they have the 3rd or 4th best odds to make the CFP.

I was talking with one of my buddies the other day and at this point we just want UC in to see what happens.

All this drama is crazy, expand the playoffs already please!
