I officially hate what this does to high school football-  I think I’m done this year if this is true.

Take some time and think about it.  There are a lot of other kids out there playing high school ball.

I am not sure I can put college athletics and ethics into the same sentence. ?

So he played in this game? I can't believe he even did that.  If he had this six figure deal in place beforehand, that just seems like a big risk.

I’m not in a position to be done with HS athletics, but I agree. I have a harder time with what it does across the board. These kids already ignore fundamental development trying to make the highlight reel on every play. You see it in every sport. Now they have more of a reason to just go out and try to “get noticed.” From a coaching standpoint, it just became a lot harder to get players to buy-in to a team philosophy.

I know right, what is that insurance athletes buy?  Lloyds of London?

I would not challenge that. 

I would never begrudge a young man for doing what is in his best interest for himself, his family and his future.

But I can’t help but think of the high school that afforded him the opportunity to grow up and star on the turf field at Rash Stadium.

While I will keep up with Wimsatt and hope he does well, I’m not going to Rutgers or wherever to watch a game or cheer for them.  I am going too Rash Stadium just like I did for the St X game.  I’m actually a closet Owensboro fan as long as they aren’t playing the Purple and Gold.

And now with so much put into this team for the Red Devils, an honest State Championship squad,  the rug is basically pulled out from under them, is what I see.

Go get the money son, this opportunity may never knock again.

It is all in for college sports and that means green lights.
