I appreciate Rutgers recruiting this kid not only to come play at Rutgers but to desert your high school team in the middle of its season.  I’d like to say to coach Schiano  “  make 7  UP Yours”…I’m sure he likes 7 up

 

Confirmed.  Coach Fallin confirms to Messenger Inquirer.  Leaving next week.  I already knew his fam was moving to Jersey.

Get paid young man! If the opportunity presents itself AND IS LEGAL, by all means take it! Somewhat disappointing to see people downplaying a chance for someone to further their career. 

Top tier D-1 programs are all starting freshmen QBs! If a student athlete is good enough to do this NIL thing, wish them the best, and may the best man win the QB competition at their former school!

I’m not upset at Gavin, but I Am at the coaches of Rutgers…slimy.

This is a tough one to call.

I feel for the players and fans of the Red Devils, its hard to be ok with the young man leaving a team that has helped develop him and leave life long friends, especially when you have a massive chance to go win a state title with those friends. It would have to feel like a friend abandoned you, even if you understand why he did it. 

With that said, its hard for me to fault a young man who can go make life changing money, while still getting a free education. It would be hard for me to turn down 100k if it was sitting in front of me and its guaranteed money. That kind of money doesn't come around every day. I wish the young man the best. 

I agree with most folks that it’s his choice to make and he should do what’s best for him.  With that said, how does the team respond?  Obviously the pc stance is to support their departing QB in his new adventures of opportunity but I doubt everyone feels that way. 

And people laughed when Tennessee students ran Schiano out of town before he was even officially hired.   I guess they knew more than the rest of the world at the time.

I am assuming that this kid already graduated high school and was taking advantage of the extra COVID year?   If that's the case, more power to him.

This whole NIL thing will get ugly when one of these incoming freshman is a bust and some entity wants its money back.

No this was his senior year…he didn’t have an extra year.

You got me - that’s why this is shocking, I thought he was eligible to graduate  in December and he was leaving in January.   Again there had to be pressure from Rutgers coaches.  I think they saw how good he looked vs st x and it was on.
