Nice! Hypothetical: if Owensboro wins the state championship, do you give Wimsatt a ring?

What a player!

I would say no because wasn't on team for playoff games.

I kinda agree, I might leave it up to a team vote though.

I would if I was in charge.

Absolutely. Kid gave his heart and soul to the program for his duration of high school and part of his senior year. He ultimately had to make the best decision for him.

I don't love the notion that he quit on the team for money, he made the decision that was best for him, and given the amount of money he had on the line, it was the best decision to leave. Now back to real time, that was a really good play on a fourth down, stepped up in the pocket under pressure, but kept his composure and threw a really nice touch pass out in front of his receiver.

Gavin Wimsatt is a generational player.  I don't blame him for making the decision he felt was in his best interest.  He will and likely already is a good player for Rutgers.  I want him to succeed.

That said, my opinion is that he will never rise an additional level from the 3 months he cut short his senior football season.  Whether Rutgers gets that 4th down play or any play from Wimsatt the rest of the year.  Leaving after the high school season in the spring - totally get it.  Leaving during a state championship run, you have worked with your friends since you were old enough to throw a ball - don't get it.  Again, my opinion and happy he is doing well and want him to succeed.  But also want Owensboro to succeed, as they provided the stage for him to get recruited from.

Totally agree! Why sit on a bench when you could be playing and getting better?
