I agree.

While this is obviously the first time this NIL deal has been involved. The situation extends a local pattern of athletes doing this type of thing. There have been several across multiple sports in the 17 years I’ve lived here and 8 years that I’ve followed closely who have jumped ship on their teammates.

Yet there’s been one (maybe 2) who have made it to pro level. That’s Aric Holman. The second would be Kishawn Walker who the locals all seem to talk about, I believe played in the NFL, but I’m unsure if he’s a true local talent or just played college ball at KWC.

I’m late to the thread… is there a reason it’s happening now? Is it because of the Rutgers school calendar?

Not just with Gavin, but all athletes, I hope the NIL deals aren’t the only reason for some their decisions. It’s hard to pass up some deals, but it becomes much more of a business once the jump is made from high school to college.

Feel like this thread is assuming 100,000 was all that was offered. I have a gut feeling it’s closer to 500,000. I have no idea the amount, but imagine turning that down… spoiler you wouldn’t.

I agree.  And I hope it is that big.

So the highest bidder gets the best players now?

Right, nothing’s changed.

I would say it has changed because it is out in the open now.

After watching the game yesterday I am not so sure.  Again, it was only one game but if you base UK on that one game they have the potential to become a QB Factory.

I referencing the fan base. Lol. I agree, that new offensive coordinator a serious upgrade.

I don't even know, was the "fan base" toxic towards Wimsatt?

They did try and destroy a referee's business which spurred a lawsuit so I could see it. I was harassed driving to UofL vs UK game in Lexington one year. Report could be inaccurate but also believable.

I don’t trust Stoops - He is too much if a defensive coach.  He’s done well, but don’t come to UK if you are a top tier QB no way.  I’m glad Gavin went to Rutgers- great recruiting class and a chance at a diverse offense in a great conference.
