If a team knows they have no chance of winning a playoff game, I can't fault teams for opting out.

I agree.  I am shocked more teams that are not very good have not opted out.

I can't fault them either but I respect the hell out of them for pushing ahead. 

Line the playoffs out the way it’s supposed to be and if a team opts out the other team just gets a bye.

On the KHSAA site this morning. Class 1A is already released. It appears the other classes will follow shortly.

STATE FOOTBALL UPDATES

The brackets will be drawn and posted on Friday, November 13. After that point, removal from the bracket will simply be a "hole" and no additional intra-district seeding will be reviewed or revised.

Schools should continue submitting the FB106 as per the postseason instructions with game times.

The first round of the State Football Playoffs will begin on November 19-20-21 at host sites with the finals scheduled for the third weekend in December.

Updates will be provided through the playoff weeks.

I thought at one point I saw that Webster County had opted to end their season, but according to the KHSAA scoreboard, they are playing at Union County in the first round of the 3A playoffs on November 20th.

Mason County and Marion County have dropped out.

Add Bracken County.

Hearing Fulton County is out in Class 1A. 

Washington County out.

Fern Creek is out. 

Middlesboro is out.

Hart County and Powell County have now dropped out.

I’ll still argue no meaningful contender has dropped out and only three teams on this list would have been favored in round one. Will be interesting to see drop outs after round one.
