Speeding tickets

Featured Replies

I've been pulled over more than 30 times but I've only gotton 2 speeing tickets and 1 improper passing ticket. One of my speeding tickets I wasn't speeding.

I don't understand how you can be pulled over that many times and only have two tickets, lol.

Your lack of respect for law enforcement, telling them you have connections, and your avatar lead me to believe that you have two chances of avoiding incarceration at some point in your lifetime...slim and none. And slim's out of town.:D

See....now you don't even know what you're talking about. I guess I didn't explain the situation enough. The officer took my license and went back to his car. He came back with a ticket and I asked him a question about traffic school. He told me to ask "my mother's name inserted here." I told him that "she" was my mother and he said, ok have a nice night. I admit, I was hoping he would take the ticket back, but that didn't happen. But what is even worse is that my mother has NOTHING to do with speeding tickets or traffic school. He should've known that she didn't. And if he was just assuming since we have the same last name, that doesn't mean we were related.

To say I have a disrespect for law enforcement is just crazy. It's actually the complete opposite. But trying to see if they would let it go is not disrespectful. If you go to Vegas and ask for free comps, that's just seeing if you can get it. They can just say no. This isn't much different.

And as far as my avitar, what does that have to do with anything? It's a good show and I like it. Doesn't mean I'm a criminal. I'm 27 and that one speeding ticket is the only thing on my record. I've never been arrested or even questioned by police, other than that one night.

I got my first speeding ticket tonight. 69 in a 55 on US68 between Paris and Lexington. I'm kind of curious, who has the most tickets out of us? And, if some of you know, what are my rights if I get pulled over? Can I ask to see the radar? Can I verbally contest the ticket then and there?

Until then, you kind find me writing my check for $166.:madman:

I got a question did you say thank you after you got the ticket? My professor in my pschology class brought this up the other day in a class with over 500 people, and he asked what was the one thing people always say after they get a ticket, and that is thank you for some reason. Mostly everyone in the class raised their hand saying that they have said thank you before after they got a ticket. I know I have before, and it really makes no sense at all, I now after I said it, I was like why the heck did I say thanks for a $160 ticket. But for some reason it is just human nature to say that, and it makes no sense at all lol...So thats why I was wondering if you said thanks after you got your ticket...:D

Even if you ask to see the gun, they can make it say whatever they want.

Dont even get me started on parking tickets. Besides tuition, this is where colleges make some good money is parking tickets. There is always some fake rent-a-cop wanna be security guard out there that loves to give college kids parking tickets. I REALLY hate those dudes. :fight:

I've got a whole box full of them. Fortunately, where I went to school I found a way around the system. Since the police on my particular campus were just rent-a-cop's, and had no real access to police records, I did the following. My freshman year I bought a parking pass, with my good old Tercel. I sold my Tercel and bought a new car, and forgot to buy a pass. To my suprise, because my new car had new plates and was a new vehicle, they had no way of tying my car to me as a student. So I'd just take the tickets, put 'em in my pocket, and move on. After 2 years of this they actually did call a tow truck, once. Fortunately, I arrived while he was putting it on the truck, gave him some money out of my pocket, and he let me go.

I got pulled over for doing 81 in a 65. 6 points on my license.

This brings to mind my hatred of cops in Wolfe County on the Mountain Parkway. I live in Pikeville and go to school at UK, so in the last few years I've driven that road quite a bit. On Thanksgiving weekend of my freshman year I was driving home and a cop in Wolfe County pulled me over and gave me a ticket for going 62 in a 55. I was so angry. I never speed, and I don't consider 62 in a 55 speeding. Oh well, it sure was a pain driving all the way to Campton to pay it though.

I hadnt had a ticket in 3 yrs until Thursday....cruising down a hill..not paying attention, fumbling with something on my passenger seat. The Cop was sitting at the bottom of the hill parked on the side of the road...it was a 25 mph...... I didnt see him until I got right next to him.

I just pulled right in front of him... I knew I was busted... he then turned on the lights and said I was doing 43 mph in a 25..... he was nice enough to lower it to 10mph over......still $156 bones... but I will take Guru's advice... go to Traffic school where I was a fixture many years ago.. and pay the reduced ticket.

I have only had one ticket - the day after I got my license! My speedometer was off and I was able to prove it, but I still had to pay court costs.

I was once with someone that got pulled over. He said something to the cop to the effect of "What about all of the other people that were speeding with me?" The cop looked at him and said "Son, have you ever went fishing?" My friend, of course, said "Yes." The cop replied, "Did you ever catch all the fish in the pond?"

And, yes, my friend said "Thank you" when he received his ticket!

Even if you ask to see the gun, they can make it say whatever they want.

I would think that most police officers would not do this, if they do then they probably need to find a new line of work because sooner or later it would catch up with them.

I got a 63 in a 35--not my brightest moment. Court date and everything, but wound up with traffic school and no points off.

Never had one or even been pulled over for speeding. I do not have the nerve to drive far over the speed limit; I cannot afford a few hundred dollars for tickets. I have yet to understand how people will speed through without any fear of being pulled over and losing money.

See the one's im talking about are the same way your's was. I did the samething you did a lot but most of the time if I could, but most of the time the car I registered when I first started was the one I drove mostly so I kinda didnt have a choice.

I got two in VA 77 in a 65 and 64 in a 55, both coming back from NASCAR events. They love to pick on the out of towners. I ran a stop sign once, officer told me I didnt even do an "Alabama rolling stop" I just laughed, it was dismissed. This March got a 84 in a 65 on I75 in Rockcastle Co court date was the day of my ACL surgery so I called to get my court date moved because I was out of work and didnt have the money to pay it. When I explained my situation to the lady at the Co. Attroney's office she said she would just dismiss it because tore her knee up as well. July I got pulled over by the KSP in Harlan going 86 in a 55 on my way to work. He asked for my license and where I was going. I told him work, then he did just what I wanted him to do. The officer asked where I worked I told him Howard Engineering, because I worked there with his uncle. He said tell his uncle he said hello, and slow down.
