December 10, 200619 yr This brings to mind my hatred of cops in Wolfe County on the Mountain Parkway. I live in Pikeville and go to school at UK, so in the last few years I've driven that road quite a bit. On Thanksgiving weekend of my freshman year I was driving home and a cop in Wolfe County pulled me over and gave me a ticket for going 62 in a 55. I was so angry. I never speed, and I don't consider 62 in a 55 speeding. Oh well, it sure was a pain driving all the way to Campton to pay it though. It is not the police officer or deputy's fault you were exceeding the posted speed limit. So why hate them? Most people understand and it is advertised that most state law enforcement agencies raise enforcement around the holidays, so once again its not the officers fault. Despite what you think 62MPH is speeding when you are doing it in a 55MPH zone, so in reality you are the only person at fault. He was just doing his job.
December 10, 200619 yr I got two in VA 77 in a 65 and 64 in a 55, both coming back from NASCAR events. They love to pick on the out of towners. I ran a stop sign once, officer told me I didnt even do an "Alabama rolling stop" I just laughed, it was dismissed. This March got a 84 in a 65 on I75 in Rockcastle Co court date was the day of my ACL surgery so I called to get my court date moved because I was out of work and didnt have the money to pay it. When I explained my situation to the lady at the Co. Attroney's office she said she would just dismiss it because tore her knee up as well. July I got pulled over by the KSP in Harlan going 86 in a 55 on my way to work. He asked for my license and where I was going. I told him work, then he did just what I wanted him to do. The officer asked where I worked I told him Howard Engineering, because I worked there with his uncle. He said tell his uncle he said hello, and slow down. Oddly enough most police officers are human. If it is handled correctly you can sometimes get away with a warning. Honesty will get you a heck of alot further than anger or lies.

December 11, 200619 yr See....now you don't even know what you're talking about. I guess I didn't explain the situation enough. The officer took my license and went back to his car. He came back with a ticket and I asked him a question about traffic school. He told me to ask "my mother's name inserted here." I told him that "she" was my mother and he said, ok have a nice night. I admit, I was hoping he would take the ticket back, but that didn't happen. But what is even worse is that my mother has NOTHING to do with speeding tickets or traffic school. He should've known that she didn't. And if he was just assuming since we have the same last name, that doesn't mean we were related. To say I have a disrespect for law enforcement is just crazy. It's actually the complete opposite. But trying to see if they would let it go is not disrespectful. If you go to Vegas and ask for free comps, that's just seeing if you can get it. They can just say no. This isn't much different. And as far as my avitar, what does that have to do with anything? It's a good show and I like it. Doesn't mean I'm a criminal. I'm 27 and that one speeding ticket is the only thing on my record. I've never been arrested or even questioned by police, other than that one night. Just jokin' with you (notice the smilie), lighten up, lol. The only thing I was only halfway serious about was, if you think all the cops are at Denny's, you will find out the hard way that they aren't. Which you did.

Almost all police officers use common sense and don't give tickets for driving a few miles an hour over the limit...Calibration on radar guns and speedometers is not perfect, so they allow for that...Take a ticket for 62 in a 55 to court and it will be dropped 99% of the time... Also, people who travel the Mountain Parkway know Wolfe County is a bigtime speed trap...I know for sure they don't use common sense and question their integrity as well...
December 11, 200619 yr No speeding tickets, but I should get a plaque and a booster membership for all the funding I give to the university for parking tickets.
December 11, 200619 yr One year when my mother was very ill and I lived out of town, I got 3 speeding tickets in one year, all from the same town. Twice by radar and once by a bear in the air. Beware of Findlay Ohio!
December 11, 200619 yr I've been pulled over four times for varrying violatoins and I've only gotten one ticket. One of the times I was going 20 over through a red light and got a little bit of air off of a divit type thing, and didn't get a ticket. I was headed to a track meet, and it took me about 20 minutes to get my insurance card out of my glove box that decided to break just as I needed it. It was actually kind of funny because I used so many different types of tools to try and pry open my glove box as my track team and the officers looked on. I guess they let off because I made them laugh. Either way I was not complaining. I will brag about that one forever.
December 11, 200619 yr I haven't been pulled over for speeding yet, but since my headlight went out last monday i've been pulled over six times for it.....
December 11, 200619 yr I haven't been pulled over for speeding yet, but since my headlight went out last monday i've been pulled over six times for it..... What do you expect, there's not a whole lot of trouble going on in Independence.

The only thing I was only halfway serious about was, if you think all the cops are at Denny's, you will find out the hard way that they aren't. Which you did. It's all good. But I must have looked over the smiley face. Apparently that cop doesn't like Denny's. It's a small town here, and I know almost all of the city cops and the state police. I just didn't know him. :irked:
December 11, 200619 yr I've never been pulled over, therefore I've never had a speeding ticket. Trying to keep my record completely clean!

December 11, 200619 yr My brother once got two speeding tickets within about 15 minutes of each other. In fact, he was reading the first one and not paying attention to his driving when he was pulled over for the second one.
