Any word on the inured driver? That wreck was tough to watch. I'm sure it tested the safety features on the car.

I think it was Blaney's car.

Newman has serious injuries, but they aren't life threatening.

Hopefully not paralyzed or any other permanent disability.

Crazy that man could build a cage to survive that, but thank God it was possible.

Congrats to Hamlin, he did an amazing job at the end of the race and he was the "hero" the week before when he pushed Jones to a win.

 

If the first couple of weeks are any indication it looks like Toyota and Joe Gibbs Racing are the favorites again.

I pay little attention to auto racing, but isn't this two years in a row that the end of Daytona has finished like a demolition derby? Is that a problem that needs fixing?

And I don't think so on any problems, that is what happens when you get ultra aggressive at 200 mph.

Happens mostly at the Restrictor Plate tracks of Daytona & Talladega. The "pack racing" lends itself to more wrecks.

In other words, obviously the faster you go the more kinetic energy you have and therefore the more catastrophic the crashes are at super speedways like Daytona and Talladega.

Blaney tried to move Newman, that happens in almost every lap, of every race. He just happened to spin him out. Racin’ is rubbin’ very dangerous sport.
