Colonels_Wear_Blue
Have seen other states' HS football all-decade teams on social media and figured this would be a good place to get it started for the Bluegrass. Best Kentucky HS football players from 2010-2019. Any thoughts? Great thread, @Cardinal Ghost ...and a heck of a solid first post on BGP. Glad to have you here! Colonels_Wear_Blue
You ought to be able to find a good number of candidates in the last decade worth of Mr. Football finalists. Mr. Football - Over The Years

zoneblitz2
I would argue Bush had a better career in HS than Clark but both great players regardless.

Hatz
In HS career, few had a greater impact on a game than Van Cleave of Danville. His speed was blinding and hard to catch on a high school football field.
theguru
I would start with all of our BluegrassPreps.com Players of the Year for the decade: 2010 - Lamar Dawson, Boyle County 2011 - Patrick Towles, Highlands 2012 - James Quick, Trinity 2013 - Nacarius Fant, Bowling Green 2014 - Elijah Sindelar, Caldwell County 2015 - Riley Hall, Pulaski County 2016 - Jamale Carothers, Bowling Green 2017 - Rondale Moore, Trinity 2018 - Wan'Dale Robinson, Western Hills 2019 - Michael Mayer, Covington Catholic
futurecoach
I believe Dante Hendrix from Cooper also would have been in the discussion for this team. Great player who put up big numbers, while having three different starting QBs each year from his sophomore year on. He was most likely every teams focal point to stop, and teams still couldn’t. Cardinal Ghost
Agree 100% that this should be focused entirely on High School performance. There are countless examples of kids who have outstanding HS careers but just don't pan out in college for one reason or another. There are also plenty of examples of elite HS players who never have the opportunity to play big-time college football for various reasons. Taking post-HS accolades and achievements into consideration would really just muddy the water here and eliminate an objective conversation. That being said, I did include where each of the guys on my list ended up (or are going to end up) playing college ball for 3 reasons: 1.) To validify my reasoning above. 2.) It's always interesting to see the recruiting battles Kentucky & Louisville have lost with elite players from the state of KY. 3.) For my own recollection (please correct me if I'm off with any of these). Here's my list. Obviously a lot of room for discussion (especially at QB). OFFENSE QB - Elijah Sindelar, Caldwell County (2014) / College: Purdue RB - Damien Harris, Madison Southern (2014) / College: Alabama TE - Michael Mayer, Covington Catholic (2019) / College: Notre Dame WR - Nacarius Fant, Bowling Green (2013) / College: Western KY WR - Jake Johnson, Pulaski County (2016) / College: Georgetown WR - James Quick, Trinity (2012) / College: Lousiville OL - Jedrick Willis, Lafayette (2016) / College: Kentucky OL - Walker Parks, Fredrick Douglas (2019) / College: Clemson OL - Hunter Bivin, Apollo (2012) / College: Notre Dame OL - Landon Young, Lafayette (2016) / College: Kentucky OL - Drake Jackson, Woodford County (2016) / College: Kentucky DEFENSE LB - Kam Butler, Covington Catholic (2017) / College: Miami (OH) LB - Kash Daniel, Paintsville (2015) / College: Kentucky LB - Lamar Dawson, Boyle County (2010) / College: USC DL - Jason Hatcher, Trinity (2012) / College: Kentucky DL - Jacob Lacey, South Warren (2018) / College: Notre Dame DL - JJ Weaver, Moore (2018) / College: Kentucky DL - Matt Elam, John Hardin (2013) / College: Kentucky DB - Jeremy Clark, Madisonville (2012) / College: Michigan DB - Nate McCoy, Gallatin County (2013) / College: Union DB - D'Mauriae VanCleave, Danville (2017) / College: Wofford DB - Milton Wright, Louisville Christian (2018) / College: Purdue OTHER ATH - Kentavius Hopkins, Bourbon County (2012) / College: Eastern KY ATH - Wandale Robinson, Western Hills (2018) / College: Nebraska ATH - Jamale Carothers, Bowling Green (2016) / College: Navy PK - Miles Butler, Paducah Tilghman (2013) / College: Kentucky
Big Red
To pick an all decade QB for this era is tough: Towles, Zeke Pike, Elijah Sindelar, Tanner Morgan (underrated), AJ Mayer, Nick Bohn, Beau Allen. This is a fun debate! In looking through the Mr Kentucky list over the last 10 years, you don't see many lineman, but the list does set up other positions. RB - Damien Harris, Casey McGinnis, Jake Chisolm, J Carothers TE - Michael Mayer (if he is eligible, he has to be on as an LB as well) WR - Impressive two at the top with Devante Parker and Rondale Moore. I'm sure a long list of potential for a 3rd spot. I like the suggestion of Dev Hendrix. DB - Vito Tisdale, Van Cleave
Jack of all Trades
Seeing the kickers named so far, I will take a shot that my son Jared Dougherty would be in the discussion. Number 5 in state of Kentucky in made PAT’s and kicked less than three years. Talk about the local power 5 schools missing the boat. He just finished his four year college career at Lindsey Wilson as the programs all time leading scorer and his name littered all over the record books of the program. If only to see him once again HAMMER someone on a kick-return, I'll co-sign this nomination.

Well he actually did just that in the NAIA national semifinals against Marian. Kid thought he was going for a score and then all of a sudden you heard the crowd go Ooooooohhhhh!!!! and number 10 climbing from the pile on the sidelines. Sweeperboy
Wow!!! It must be coaching only at Highlands because it appears even Dale Mueller didn’t have talent when he dominated. You all are proving my point with no selections from Highlands. The excuses of why Highlands is losing has now been validated. This is too easy.
