I'm an old guy and saw an OSU team, maybe '68, led by Rex Kern that was very good. The Archie Griffin teams were very good. I really felt Young would have had a bigger impact last night, but I think Carman played well for Clemson and they schemed away from him.

And that is why you don't build a team around a DE. If you need a QB, you take a QB every time over any other position.

That OSU team was the real deal. They seemed classy in heartbreaking defeat as well. Future is bright in Columbus.

Stopping the uptempo is another factor that hurt O.S.U.

It seemed like OSU had scripted 20 or so plays to begin the game uptempo. After that hot start, they left that strategy behind for most of the rest of the night.

Well, the Buckeye Faithful will tell you he's been held on every play for 56 quarters or they've blocked him with 5 guys lol.

That is my beef with replay overturns, if the standard is indisputable I just ain't buying.

Words aside, hits to the head like the one in question should be a penalty, not an ejection, and I have no issue with the call.

 

Replay review is eventually going to be the domain of artificial intelligence and at some point that should be extremely consistent. For now, I just don't trust the system doing the replay reviews, I am speaking to Pro Football here but I think there is behind the scenes meddling going on. It has been apparent for several years the top minds in pro football can't agree on what the call should be after reviewing it on replay.

 

Now I could be wrong about this part because it was me listening to I believe Dan Fouts during a game but he said the NFL pass interference rule had the word egregious added to it recently, or at least the powers that be only wanted egregious errors reviewed/changed etc. Immediately my mind went to exactly what Fouts said next, pass interference is already a subjective call and adding the word egregious to it only makes it more difficult to be consistent.

 

In other words, the NFL is playing a game, it is a game of ambiguity where they have created a big enough gray area for them to interpret how they see fit given a circumstance instead of having a hard and fast rule. This is why the rules experts, the NFL, the LA location, New York, and the commentators often come to different conclusions. I think it has been an especially bad look for the NFL when the rules expert and the actual final ruling differ. Obviously the NFL knows it is a problem because more and more the rules expert gives an on the fence assessment. It is a joke.

 

I also agree both college football and pro football are very corrupt and that probably is at the heart of the issue.
