Highlands travels to Cooper next Friday to determine the 3 and 4 seed in the district.

In 2017 Highlands beat Oldham County 34-7 in the first round and lost to South Oldham 35-34 in the second round.

Highlands made a great goal line stand at the end of the game to keep it 13 to 0.

I was surprised by the amount of celebration coming from the Highlands players after the goal line stop at the end. A HHS friend of mine and I were texting throughout the game. Afterwards he said, "What were they celebrating about? Losing by less?"

157 yards of offense and 8 penalties for 98 yards. Hard to win with numbers like that.

Serious question, who gets blamed for the penalties, coaches or players?

To my point. Great teams don’t show all of their cards and still beat you.

 

I have seen Dale do this for a lot of years and make teams think “man we had them” or “we were in this thing” when you really were never even close.

 

I witnessed this tonight.

 

I think this one was a business trip. CovCath is saving the full court press, if they meet up again.

I take a different approach there, you fight for every inch, every play and although the timing is odd the exuberance is a positive for Highlands in my opinion.

I thought it was on called on the Highlands' sideline.

You are correct. It was thrown in the direction of someone on the coaching staff.

This game was never ever close so it might as well been 64-0.

 

I have played this game at two levels and know first hand when you have been had and Highlands was had tonight just like Highlands use to have their way with CovCath not long ago.

I wouldn't go "64-0" but the game did have a 35-0 feel to me.

I think the play calling was vanilla on purpose. Keeping the cards close to the vest for when it matters most.

Btw, BW is an outstanding defensive coordinator to hold CovCath to 13 points.

I know it is a loss, but good for Highlands. If they can be within 2 TD's they have a chance to get the upset in the playoffs.

 

Wasn't really within two TDs.

 

I believe here was one stop inside the 10 at the end of the first half (might have been a turnover) and then there was the goal line stand at the end where it didn't look like they were even trying to score (and I think the QB fumbled the snap on fourth down).

 

On a brighter note, I rolled by the Highlands cheering section and they were all going nuts screaming and waving! I'm pretty sure I must have made a difference when I presented there!
