Nobody has played CovCath tougher this year in regards to holding them down.

 

BW is perhaps one of the best Defensive Coordinators around. Back when Highlands had an offensive support system I believe Highlands dominated everyone and anyone that faced them with the exception of a handful of games.

 

I agree, game was never close as CovCath dominated, but CovCath was on the other end not long ago around 15 straight times or more so enjoy it, AGAIN!!!

I was surprised by the amount of celebration coming from the Highlands players after the goal line stop at the end. A HHS friend of mine and I were texting throughout the game. Afterwards he said, "What were they celebrating about? Losing by less?"

 

Actually, this is a sign of good team culture and attitude. So they shouldn’t get excited when they make a defensive stand? That energy that resulted in celebration is the same energy that kept the opponent out of the endzone. They are teenagers. I’d rather have kids that fight till the end than kids that give up because of the score situation.

I believe here was one stop inside the 10 at the end of the first half (might have been a turnover) and then there was the goal line stand at the end where it didn't look like they were even trying to score (and I think the QB fumbled the snap on fourth down).

 

On a brighter note, I rolled by the Highlands cheering section and they were all going nuts screaming and waving! I'm pretty sure I must have made a difference when I presented there!

 

Technically 13-0 is within two TDs right? By definition? Two TDs May have been impossible but you can’t really say it wasn’t.

Can someone explain the offense to me. Hurry, hurry, hurry and go three and out. CovCath defense stout against the run and why does Highlands try and do all night? Also seems defense knows where plays are going to be run. Something must be happening at the line of scrimmage to tip them off. Could it be the signals called at line of scrimmage? Should be one and done for the offensive coordinator.

Thought for sure Huddy would play both ways in this game especially with it being a close one. Maybe they are saving him for the playoffs?

He was in for like 2 plays. I think they’re saving him for my imagination.

Huddy ran once for a loss and had a decent kick return. Way too much being asked of this kid by folks on here. Great kid and all but not the freak athlete to carry this team single handed.

 

I wasn’t exactly comfortable with only a two possession game. While the Birds did not really threaten, and the Colonels were close on several plays to busting out, I would have preferred 7s over the FGs.

Why didn't Deschler and Delagrange play for the Birds?

No middle screens and QB running 3 or 4 times, we'll over his average. Conservatives or not, a win is a win. When and if need be he will put the pedal to the metal.

Not to bash the CCH stat guys because I love them all, and sometimes the Stat Crew software does very strange things, but the stat sheet we were given after the game showed an 89 yard run by Felix that did not happen. So I think those rushing and total yards passed onto this thread were a little exaggerated. Sometimes computers are just dumb. That being said the ability of HHS to keep the running game in check certainly kept this one respectable. I love watching Trey Gronotte kick FG's but the beauty of CCH is he usually doesn't get two chances. This game felt a lot more like 28-0 than 13-0. I think CCH would use Michael Mayer more if more were on the line than a seeding game that they were pretty confident they would win not matter how conservative or wide open the offense was. Nothing against HHS as they made drastic improvements from the Ryle game where they gave up about 10 sacks, but I think the LaSalle win over St X shows where this CCH program is when they want to go full throttle. After LexCath I was not sure how good CCH was. They are really really good.

From a CCH perspective, I was disappointed in the number of dropped passes. 2 were TDS, and even big Mike had a couple. The yardage disparity tells more of the story.

 

CCH needs to get through Conner and finally get to their bye ready for the playoffs. Way too many key guys who came into the game banged up but played through it, and more who got dinged up last night.
