Been a tough couple of week. Last night about midnight my Dad passed away on the heels of my Father in law passing away on June 14. Dad was 83 years old and lived a full life. The last five years was not munch of a life though. He had Parkinson's and he could talk to him but you could not understand anything he said. Both of my parents have now passed. If you still have your parents, call them today or go see them. They don't last forever. Thanks Mom and Dad for raising me the best you could, sending me to college and giving me wisdom that I am passing on to my grand daughters. RIP Dad. I Love you.

Well said, sumo. May "the peace that passes understanding" be yours.

So sorry to hear of your dad's passing.

My dad passed away a few weeks back at the age of 97, but was still mentally sharp as a tack. I guess we thought he was going to live forever.

Agree with spending time with them while you still can, because there is a distinct void in your life when they are gone.

My mother has been gone over 30 years. She was too young and our family was devastated. However, to this day I find myself thinking “oh mom would be laughing at me if she saw this,” or “I don’t want want to do this, but she would make me.”

Literally, thousands of times over the years, i thought of her and what she may say or do in any given situation. She certainly was in my thoughts when my kids were born and raised (when she died, she had 4 grandchildren, and now there are 23).

It seems so trite when people tell you that your deceased parent is still with you, but I have found great comfort in discovering that it really is true. Hope you do too.

I just now seen this. I'm so sorry for you and your families loss. Prayers are with you and your family!
