April 1, 20197 yr I am soooooo ready for summer to be here. Not just because of the weather itself, but because of the vacation we have planned for our family. Normally we've gone to the same place over and over again (because we love it), but last year decided to break it up into two different, smaller trips (Cooperstown/Niagra Falls and Asheville). Both were really good, but nothing compared to what we'll see this year. We're taking 24 days and driving out west to take in Yellowstone/Tetons, Glacier National Park, and the Black Hills/Badlands. It's been 40 years since I've been out there, but my wife and son have never been, so we are all stoked for it! Anybody else got some fabulous vacation(s) lined up for 2019?
April 1, 20197 yr Fourth year in a row, I'll be heading to Northern Michigan and a cottage on Grand Traverse Bay for about 10 days in late June. In my mind, I'm there already.
April 1, 20197 yr Author Fourth year in a row, I'll be heading to Northern Michigan and a cottage on Grand Traverse Bay for about 10 days in late June. In my mind, I'm there already. We LOVE Michigan's UP (which is where we usually go.) Normally it's a straight shot up and back for us on I-75/US-27. But, two years ago we took the "long" way home, down the western side of the state. First time in 20+ years I had been in Traverse City. Definitely an area that we'd love to go back and explore further. If you're a pie lover, I'm assuming you've already found the Grand Traverse Pie Company. (And if you're not a pie lover....well, that's just un-American.)

I just looked it up and it's down in Traverse City which is almost an hour south of where I am, which is closer up toward Charlevoix and Petoskey. Each of the last three years we've talked about going to either Traverse City or up to Mackinac, but we've never actually gotten around to the trip. Maybe this is the year.
April 1, 20197 yr 10 days in Ireland and Scotland including golf at St. Andrews, in October. Will probably make our (pretty much) annual trip to visit my parents in St. Augustine; late spring or early summer.

Not too late to start thinking about who takes over the football contest for a week or two.
April 1, 20197 yr MrsC and I are going to Savannah this week, and are going back to Maui in December for whale season
April 2, 20197 yr I'm not sure yet we went to Huatulco, Mexico in late December but the wife informed me last week she's ready for another trip. I'd say in June we'll probably go somewhere out of the country and then probably again later in the year.
April 2, 20197 yr Mrs. S and I are coming up there some time next month. Haven't decided on the dates, yet, but plan to get that ferreted out this week.

Make sure you hit Custer Park if you are in the Black Hills area around Mt. Rushmore. Take the Wildlife Loop Road drive. It is a lot of fun. You can park your car right next to a herd of buffalo. Also, stop in Cody WY on your drive to/from Glacier/Yellowstone and go to the rodeo.
April 2, 20197 yr So ready for my summer vacation. Late June I am headed to Norway for about six days. Taking in Oslo, Flam, Bergen, and the magnificent fjord country. On the way back we are stopping for three days in Iceland.

Cody, however, we're not going through. In fact, I'm actually detouring around it, so that we can hit the Beartooth Highway further north. We'll use that to come into Yellowstone from the northeast. There's just so much out there. Originally we had planned on going to Colorado and Utah as well, but we'd need at least another week to do that.
