I have no idea how many points Clemson puts up on OSU this year. I do know OSU is going to get theirs. It’s a shame this offense is wasted by this bad defense. But if you think that Clemson secondary is slowing down the OSU Haskins and this receiving core then I strongly disagree. I’m not crazy enough to pick OSU to win the game by any means because the defense is so bad, but the offense is legit. OSU has the athletes to match up to Clemson, ND had to have the perfect game plan today and BK got outcoached. So yeah if you would have told me in 2016 that OSU got shutout I would have said you were crazy. But this isn’t 2016.

 

OSU is very good. However they only scored 27 against Penn State. 30 against Minnesota. 20 against Purdue and 26 against Michigan State. So I dont find it to hard to believe that Clemsons defense which is a lot better than those defenses, would be able to keep OSU 17 or under. In fact I think they would have a good shot at keeping them 17 or under.

This is exactly why College Football is my least favorite football.

 

Notre Dame had no business in the playoffs, I wonder if they even would have been .500 in the SEC, and Georgia and Ohio State are clearly better than Notre Dame.

 

Either the playoffs need to be expanded a bunch or College Football needs to stop with the "good ole boy" rankings system and turn to Vegas for something more objective.

 

I doubt Georgia or OSU would have done anything against Clemson either.

I feel Clemson is about where Alabama is at this time.

2 teams would have been fine but if ND had gotten a favorable matchup in their bowl game and won we would have had to hear from ND fans for a year that they deserved to be National Champs.

 

I was going to say this year has been a good argument against expanding the playoffs but this post makes a good point. Go ahead and make it 8 and watch teams get rolled to shut the wanna be fans up.

Clemson’s secondary is not great. They have a great D line that alleviates a lot of the pressure on them. But the actual secondary is mediocre. They gave up over 500 yards in the air to a bad South Carolina team like 3 weeks ago. Any Clemson fan will tell you that their secondary isn’t great.

Surely you know, that any team can have a bad week against an inferior team.

 

Bottom line their pass defense is not mediocre, doesn't matter if it's due to coverage or pressure. Who's to say they wouldn't have pressured OSU into a poor passing performance also?
