Is this embarrassing for Pulaski County? Having a field in such poor condition that the KHSAA questioned whether they could host a game?

 

JMO, but I feel it's more embarrassing for all of the people concerned about having to play a football game in the mud.

 

As JD said though, this sort of uproar over the field is exactly what Coach Hines wants.

Truth be told I think that's exactly what the coach wants. He was promised turf a few years ago and when it came time for the board to approve it, they changed their mind. I think he's happy with the controversy and embarrassment.

 

I think he's hoping if it's bad enough the BoE will give in.

Idk what type of offense PC runs but assuming they’re like most mountain teams, they’ll grind it out on the ground which would play into their strength. I could be wrong. it would virtually make CovCath one dimensional if it’s that bad. It’s also in the players heads too.

The team with the better running game is Covington Catholic. That is why I keep asking who the field conditions are an advantage for. Very true. However with there literally being rain almost every Friday. Pulaski County is use to playing in that slop, and while playing in the slop they were still able to be the top passing team in 5A. So when it comes to still being able to do what they do in that slop, Pulaski County is use to it.

 

While Covcath has one of the best lines and running backs in the state. They are use to solid footing surfaces. To where he can put his foot down at any point and be able to cut and get up field and shed tackles.

 

So I would still say it favors Pulaski. Much like how the Highlands faithful down played the effects playing the slop would have on them. When they played down at Anderson County, and expected an easy win. They got to see first hand how playing in the slop does make it more difficult, especially if your not use to how to play, cut and run in it. Including something as simple as snapping the ball in the mud is a lot more difficult.

 

So if Covcath was use to the mud. I would say it favors them. Due to the strong running game as you mentioned. However since they are not use to it. I do think it favors Pulaski still.

Probably because they have played in that slop every Friday this year and still was the top passing team in 5a. So they are use to knowing how to still do their thing in the slop.

Has nothing to do with all the whining. The game will be played at PC regardless of how many people cry about it.

They can play this game at Pulaski, or the moon, or meet in the middle and play on I-75. It's not going to matter, Cov Cath has way too much for Pulaski. The field may keep the score closer than if they were playing on turf, but Pulaski will need Cov Cath to play their absolute worst, and for them to play their absolute best if they want to win this game.
