If you want to see a Hazard look at Harlan Independent's field. One endzones slopes up hill in the corner and the boundary lines literally intersect at the start of the pavement for the track. I'm amazed yearly when someone isn't destroyed being tackled on to the track.

What happened at the Pulaski/SW game? I guess no one paid the $3,500 fee to livestream the game so I wasn't able to keep up with it.

 

Go to Lake Cumberland Sports Facebook page, the entire game video is there. They Facebook live broadcast it. Just one camera and announcers, but it's easy to follow.

It hasn't played a factor in past playoff games when everyone played on grass. The playoff sites in ky works fine. The playoff system is watered down with who all makes it but I like that fact that if you win out you get at least 3 home games.

 

Only guaranteed 2 home games then the third is only if you’re playing the lower seed from your district in the region finals. Other than that it’s all based on rotation for region finals and semi finals.

The Pulaski field was terrible. Only field I have seen worse was Hancock Co. field when Mayfield played them about 10years ago in regional championship. With that said just play the game.

How far was the punt? I would have liked to have seen that!

A game should never be moved because the field is muddy. It’s football!!! Not a powder puff game.

I remember a playoff game my junior year which was played on a terrible field in terms of mud to grass ratio, but I tell you what, that was the most fun game I think I've ever played! As long as it is strictly mud, which is more of an "inconvenience" than legitimate safety issue, and not something like a sinkhole that could hurt somebody, I think the game should continue at PCHS.

In 2002, we were playing Russell for the region championship.Their field was awful and they moved the game to Putnam. The field was still rough, but much better than Hank Evans. They beat us in the regular season, 12-7. In the region championship game, they beat us 11-8. Very tough to take. But, I had a ton of respect for their program for doing the right thing and moving the game to a better field.

 

A few years later, I did ask Ivan if he would have moved that game to turf. His answer was , NO! Lol

A few thoughts on the subject.....

 

-if the field is bad, someone needs to make the tough decision to move the game.

 

-we never water our field (bermuda) after August 1st. Bermuda can handle heat and being dry. When it does rain and it has been kept dry, it soaks up the water pretty well. Our first season on our new field, we hosted a bowl and played two rain games to start the season. When we went out there two weeks later, it looked brand new. We have played on our field in multiple rain games in 2018, including the first playoff game. Right now, our turf is perfect. Sounds crazy but true.

 

- Chad Asbury took care of our field at Mason and does the same at Mercer. Very affordable and does an outstanding job. Contact me if you want his phone number.

 

- It doesn't have to be turf to be a good field. And, bermuda can now be seeded instead of sprigged so it is much cheaper to install. It is much more cost effective and reasonable to maintain a nice football field than it was ten years ago because now bermuda can be seeded.

The field should be moved imo if it can't sustaine its markings for the game. If you can't see the hashes, sidelines, or goal lines the game can't be properly called.

We are whining about a “muddy field” lol. Unbelievable.

It’s one thing to move a game to a different stadium in the same town, as South Warren and Knox Central did in the second round. But what is the closest turf field to Somerset? Maybe Lindsey Wilson in Columbia? That’s 40 miles away. Somerset is playing at home this week, which leaves Southwestern as the only other local option. Is it in better shape than Pulaski County’s?

I am of the opinion that “getting” to host a game based on the year it is, is arbitrary at best, really actually asinine.

 

I think all games should be on neutral field for 3/4 round.

 

You could schedule it with nice high schools and colleges, with some work.

Ohio does it.
