Originally I thought Mayer, but on second thought I’m going against the grain and say Kam Butler. Kid dominated every single game he played in and got very little press for it.

Rondale Moore of Trinity, Dmauriae Vancleave of Danville and AJ Mayer are on the list. No surprise there at all to see those three are finalists.

Maybe. Or possibly Moore and Mayer split the majority of the votes and VanCleave "snuck up" and took home the honor. It would be interesting to see the vote totals but pretty sure they won't be made public.

I’ve long believed that some voters take into account a whole career and not just a Senior Season. If so that may have been a factor to some voters.

And if you’d have put Moore on Danville he’d have done the same things as VanCleave so it is a moot point.

 

There is no reason why VanCleave and his supporters can’t enjoy his tremendous accomplishment. There also isn’t any reason why people can’t be allowed to question why Rondale Moore didn’t get the most votes. I am very curious to know how Rondale Moore didn’t win but that doesn’t mean I am not happy for VanCleave, his family and the Danville Admiral football program.

I don't think Danville goes undefeated or wins a state championship without VanCleave.

 

It's not like Danville played a soft schedule. They are a 2A school with 260 boys or so...they beat the top 2 6A public schools in Fayette co...the 3A state champion and have the toughest district in 2A where they beat 2 top 7 teams twice.

I know they don’t go undefeated without him. That’s my whole point. There isn’t a statement that I have seen made for one player that can’t be made for the other. Their stats are nearly identical. They both impacted the game in many areas. They both are special athletes and players. They both led their teams to state championships. They both played extremely challenging schedules and they both led their teams to undefeated seasons.

 

 

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Congratulations to D’mauriae VanCleave. He was a very deserving winner. I’ve watched him in person play the game of football since he was in the 8th grade. He’s easily one of the best athletes this area has seen in a very long time and one of the best football players to ever play for the Danville Admirals. I’m happy for him, his family and the Danville Admiral football program. This accomplishment is a testament to everything that Coach Clevenger has done in restoring the winning culture of Danville Admiral football. At the same time if I had a vote for Mr. Football I’d have chosen Rondale Moore over D’Mauriae VanCleave and I stress that I mean that with absolutely no disrespect at all to D’mauriae.

Why has nobody even mentioned the best player in 6A (JAKE CHISHOLM)?
