Shearer 6'4 210 pounds 2511 passing yards 32 tds, 553 yards rushing 13 tds, 1 catch 7 yards and 21 punts 779 yards 6 inside the 20.

Shearer had a very nice year. To the point, though, Mayer played two MORE games yet had less pass attempts than Shearer. No question he played less snaps and even if he played an entire game in a blowout he wouldn't get as many snaps simply because the running clock leads to fewer plays.

 

SK had about 3 or 4 running clocks. CovCath had 12. Seems logical AJ would have played less snaps.

This list makes me wonder what the criteria really is to be considered for Mr Football. While all these kids are very good players who meant a lot to their teams, the list should be no more than 4-5 deep and contain the players in the state who had the best year this year. I know the criteria or definition of "best year" can be defined many different ways, however, leaving Nick Bohn off the list is inexcusable. His stats dwarf all others on an all time national record setting level against a tough schedule. If that is not good enough then I don't know how you can defend many others on the list. I am not saying he is Mr Football but excluding him is just wrong.

Just like the all-state teams the list smacks too much of politics. The award just lost some of its status. Give them all a plaque or trophy and call it a day. And yes, this has gone on way to long.

While I agree with your sentiment the only way I think this award loses credibility is if Rondale Moore doesn’t win it. I was surprised to not see Nick Bohn on the list but at the same time there shouldn’t be a list at all. Anyone other than Rondale Moore winning it is inexcusable in my opinion.

Patrick Edwards should have gotten at least a mention for the award if it is for career.. Top 15 or better all time in several categories, rushing, scoring, TD, etc.

Lost a lot of it's status. People could argue all day long why Bohn should not win the award, but I don't think there's anyone out there that can give a reason why he's not on the list. They really dropped the ball on this one.

SK had 8 running clocks and against Conner hardly any passing in slop.

I've changed my mind now that he is nominated my vote would go to Ludlows Justin Blackburn.

These were basically Mayer’s 1st half stats. Shearer has to play a full game against Beechwood and Highlands.
