If you are about to build a team of your choice with no prior bias, the first layer you draft is the QB that has the size, accuracy, vision arm strength and athletism to run a high powered offense. Not one receiver. No offense to Moore that’s the way it is. The QB that throws him the ball and the other receivers the ball, makes time or runs well is number one.

No offense to AJ but to me you have other QB's in this state who can get the ball to receivers and make plays. But you don't have any other receivers anywhere near the capabilities of Rondale. He changes the other teams defenses and makes those around him that much better. I draft him first.

You guys on here act like AJ is Brian Brohm.. Rondale would of run circles around this Covington Catholic team..

 

Please understand, I’m not saying the AJ kid isn’t good, but cmon.. Rondale and the whole Trinity team would easily beat Covington Catholic.. They are just on a different level and have always been.

As a Cov Cath grad, I would certainly be happy to see AJ win the Mr. Football award, but I definitely think it's more justifiably Rondale's award to win.

Rondale is on a different level. He did things multiple times this year that I have never seen a high school kid do, and that includes Quick, Parker, Fant, etc., etc., etc. For those who saw him live a few times this year, I cannot imagine he would not get their vote.

Why is Waggenner's Jairus Brents not even in this conversation?

 

Arguably the most recruited player in Kentucky with over 30 D1 offers.

 

I know he was hurt and missed some games but still the hottest college pick in the state.

 

I'm still trying to figure out why he has 30 D1 offers and VanCleave has 0.

No doubt there are many deserving of consideration, but I will stay loyal to my team (just like many AP writers). Hands down the best player I saw all year is A.J. He gets my vote.

VanCleave is a good kid with good grades and adequate test scores.

Mayer would get my vote. He elevated his entire team. Put them on his back and led them to a title.

 

Moore is very good, but let’s face it Trinity still wins the title without him. CovCath doesn’t win without AJ.

I just watched Rondale’s Hudl clips. Nice speed and quickness. Great effort by his fellow receivers maintaining blocks downfield and the offensive play calling putting him into position to go one on one against linebackers resulted in some really nice plays.

 

Rondale is an outstanding player and probably the best receiver in the state, but I am however sticking with A.J. for Mr. Football.
