December 3, 20178 yr I don't think with how it's played out today that the committee even has osu on its mind now. It will take osu completely running the score up on Wisconsin to get them in the discussion now in that room imo. I'm not sure I disagree. I think it's just the talking heads wanting some sort of drama.
December 3, 20178 yr I don't for the reasons I just started. Bama lost on the road to Auburn and yet they actually gave Auburn a better game than Georgia did when it lost on the road to Auburn. Georgia is now showing on a neutral field they are better. Home field has been very important this year in college football with a lot of top teams losing on the road. The difference between Bama and Osu is Bama lost on the road in a closer game to a top 10 team. Osu lost on the road and got killed by a 5 loss team who probably is not even in the top 50 now. Plus osu was one of the few top teams to lose at home. Which they got beat down at home by one of the teams already in the playoffs. So we already know osu is not as good as Oklahoma. So might as well put a one loss Bama in because on a neutral site they may fare better. You're probably correct, I just personally don't see it as black and white. I don't think it's crazy that they could put Ohio State in as a Big Ten champion with a better win than any on Alabama's schedule. What was it I read somewhere - Alabama's best win is their loss to Auburn. By the committee's current rankings, Ohio State would have not one, not two, but THREE wins superior to any by Alabama. Yeah, they'll have a far worse loss, two losses to Alabama's one. That's why it wouldn't be cut and dry. Alabama has the mystique, and has never been left out. They'll probably still get the benefit of the doubt. I just am surprised everyone thinks that it wouldn't even be a debate.

Their job is to put the 4 best teams. It's just hard to say one of the 4 best teams is a team who got blown out twice in one year. To put it in perspective the biggest defeat going into this year that any team who made the playoffs was 14 points. Osu has lost by 15 at home and 33 on the road to a 5 loss team.
December 3, 20178 yr It sounds like 4 isn't enough to me. It should be 8. I know some don't like automatic bids but imo there should be. Right now it's all just opinion what teams are the best what conferences are the best etc. There is no real way to know, just let play on the field determine it. Have the 5 conference champs make it and 3 at large. Let's say Clemson and Osu win tonight. You would have Georgia, Clemson, Oklahoma, USC, and Osu as the automatic bids. Then at large you would have Bama, Miami, and either Penn State or Wisconsin in. That would make college football still have the most meaningful regular season still because you have to win your conference to guarntee anything. Plus no way you leave a potential top team out. It would also give you the most exciting post season in all sports. It would be the top sport out of all the sports imo then. If they are worried about effecting the bowl games. Then start the season one week earlier. Do the first round of the playoffs at the top 4 seeds home fields. Then have your normal 3 weeks or so off before the final 4. Plus the 4 losers in the first round could just be put into a normal bowl then still.

Like I said, to me it's which side of the coin do you land on. The 33 point loss is an albatross, and one that likely will keep it out. I don't get riled up about one point more in the loss column than what had previously been there. But my point is that you're focusing on the losses - that's fair. Ohio State has them DOMINATED on the win side of things. There are people who think that's pretty darn important. I'll be honest - I just want to see new blood. I personally hope Wisconsin wins and just makes it moot. I would love if Clemson wouldn't make it (although I would hate that Miami did go), just to make it three teams that haven't been there before, and Oklahoma. I think you'd have to go back to Miami's BCS title in 2001 to find the last title by one of those four teams. If Florida State isn't there, then I always root for something to mix it up. I have nothing personal against Alabama, but it is refreshing to see things mixed up.
December 3, 20178 yr If Wisconsin wins they are in. If OSU wins Bama is in. Agreed. And that's not only how I think it would be, but how it should be. Clemson, Oklahoma, & Georgia should all be in. Wisconsin & Alabama are vying for the final spot. Badgers should certainly get in if they beat Ohio State, but the Tide should get in if the Buckeyes prevail.
December 3, 20178 yr I don’t see how Ohio State gets in after getting destroyed by Oklahoma and Iowa.

December 3, 20178 yr It looks like right now like in my opinion #1 Clemson, #2 Oklahoma, #3 Georgia an the only question for tomorrow is who gets that #4 Spot Alabama or Ohio State.
December 3, 20178 yr Thank you Ohio State for putting two SEC teams into the Playoff! First time I've ever cheered for the Buckeyes.

December 3, 20178 yr I think the the rankings in 12 hours will look like this. #1 Clemson v. #4 Alabama (the prime time game) #2 Oklahoma v. #3 Georgia in the first game. I also think the committee may put Ohio State and Auburn playing and Miami v. either Wisconsin or more than likely USC. imo
December 3, 20178 yr @Brett_McMurphy Sneak peak at Sunday’s @CFBPlayoff rankings: 1-Clemson 2-Oklahoma 3-Georgia 4-Ohio State
