Boyle football parents meet with superintendent, principal

Featured Replies

· If this truly is about the kids, the entire Boyle County team, which is what “Everyone is cheering for” supposedly, then why last Friday night when the sophomores and freshman took the ball down the field and put the ball in the endzone against the same PSW defense that some of the upperclassmen were not able to execute against,

Isn't this what GT said was the problem?

The bottom line is this.

· You can get on here and post your opinion, you can even say things that partially back up your opinions, but you can just as easy leave things off that would contradict your opinion.

· These kids from Boyle County are able to get on here, and yes parents/fans you have a huge impact on them. You can choose to have a positive impact or a negative impact, and a lot of what I am seeing on BGP is mainly negative. So, whether or not you realize it, you are contributing just as much as anything to the same situation you are not happy about. All you are doing is compounding what is a very fixable problem at this point.

· If this truly is about the kids, the entire Boyle County team, which is what “Everyone is cheering for” supposedly, then why last Friday night when the sophomores and freshman took the ball down the field and put the ball in the endzone against the same PSW defense that some of the upperclassmen were not able to execute against, why weren’t all the parents/fans up cheering for the touchdown? Shocking to me that some sat there and never clapped b/c maybe their son didn’t score, or wasn’t in when BC scored? B/c that was definitely a positive moment Friday night.

· Parents and fans also remember this: even if you do/did go to every practice that a football team has from July-December, and you thought your son was giving a great effort, how many parents really know who everyone is supposed to block, or what route they are supposed to run, etc. We don’t, plain and simple. And if you aren’t there everyday, you definitely don’t know what kind of effort Little Johnny is giving during practice. Coaches do. So let them do there job and support the decisions that are made and cheer on your TEAM, not individuals, but the team. And I’m not sure what coaches make, but I would say it is almost next to nothing for the hours they put in, on top of having to put up with all of the “Concerned Supporters,” and be responsible for anywhere from 30-70 young peoples lives everyday, in and out.

· With all that said, Parents/Fans/Supporters, you can choose to continue to be negative and try to destroy the confidence that is Boyle County Football, or you can choose to have a positive attitude at home with these kids/or when you are around them, and on here-where they do read what is said, and support the BOYLE COUNTY FOOTBALL FAMILY, yes players, parents, coaches, and the entire BCHS family, and rally them on. BCHS Rebs, if you are on here, good luck tomorrow night with Pulaski County! Focus on the good, eliminate the bad, play with heart, execute and bring home a W tomorrow night as a FAMILY! Don’t worry about me, I’ll be cheering all of you on! GO BLACK AND GOLD!

Well Said:dancingpa

Rome has fallen.......

When meetings with the superintendent and principal start happening with parents and the coach isn't involved it is over. The dynasty known as Boyle Co the past 8 years is over.

I don't know about a dynasty, but your point is well made.:argue: :argue:

I have no clue who or what the meeting was about, but it does not come as a surprise to me. As I stated in an entirely different thread, there have been grumblings about the things going on at the school involving the football program BEFORE the season even started. I can't specifically give you info, but I know there have been concerns about the football program before they were 1-5. A lot of you assume it was about the abrupt benching of the upperclassmen and it may have been. Until a parent comes on here and tells us exactly what went on at the meeting it is all speculation which gets us nowhere. Fact is this, they are kids and the kids best interests need to be protected at all times. I still believe that regardless of how this year may turn out that things will get better. After this year, things can only get better. The people who get on here and speculate about what the meeting was about and who's mad because their kid didn't score and all that other stuff some posters were saying is ridiculous. I was there when Boyle County scored last Friday. I cheered along with everyone else in the area I was sitting in. I also asked about 10 minutes before the score where the juggers where. They were quieter than usual on Friday and I was then reminded of how quiet the the stands were on the Bowling Green side at last year's 3A Final vs. Lexington Catholic. When you are accustommed to winning and you start witnessing losing, you are stunned to say the least. And when that loss is a royal butt whipping then you become speechless and you shake your head over and over. That's what I saw last Friday. Stunned, speechless fans. Noone in Boyle County wants to go back to how it was before Chuck Smith took over. Noone. I don't think it will, but tell that to the rest of the folks around here who remember what it was like before Chuck Smith took over.

For those who didn't read the small paragraph in the paper, it mentioned a rumored player's only meeting but didn't confirm if it happened or not. It also stated that meetings like this are normal, so for those of you who say it will be a distraction, it didn't become a distraction until it was reported in the paper and put up as a thread. Obviously, there is something going on that seems to be an even bigger distraction. Hopefully a a victory or two and Boyle County playing Boyle County football will fix it. Either way, the program will remain strong and talented and hopefully the kids being affected by all of this will be all right. I still believe the kids are suffering way more than the coaches/school officials/fans. And if that's the case, then yes, there needs to be meetings in the middle of the season so priorities can be re-evaluated.

For all that we know this meeting could have been about the incident that happened at the middle school two weeks ago. That should have been brought up at the meeting while they had the superintendent there.

Well if Boyle County loses to Pulaski this week, it is all over...I just don't ever see that happening. Of course I would've never thought West Jessamine would've eneded their winning streak a few years back either.

The dynasty known as Boyle Co the past 8 years is over.

There's noway the Boyle teams of today and future can compete with the teams from 1999-2006. What those teams did was unbeliveable. Your right those days as we now know them are over. There was only one way to go and thats down, but down doesn't mean your out. Boyle may not be a contender this season, but they have the talent to be a big contender the next couple of years. This mess will get straighten out, it may be to late for this season, or maybe not. Only time will tell, but what ever happens I'll be at the games come rain or shine cheering the Rebels on.

First of all, it seems like everyone who is posting is speculating on what happened at the meeting and exactlly what it was about. Maybe this should have been posted after things became clearer. Unless this meeting is over something the coach has done to these players, it seems like everyone involved is overreacting. If it's over the record/performance this year, welcome to 85%-90% of the rest of the state's cycles. Sounds more like some disgruntled people who have gotten spoiled by success and have forgotten about the fact it's possible to have average a.k.a. "down" years. I'm suprised that they have had the runs they have had without at least a small spike in the cycle. If the coach is tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail for a bad year, who's going to be willing to step into those tar splattered shoes and try their hand at it? I think that Smith won't be back there anytime soon, so unless the current coach is doing something evil or unethical, maybe he should be given a chance to line things out. And, if you're worried about what the kids read on here, what kind of message is being sent if it is all over the record for about 1/2 a season and the coach is replaced mid-stream? " If we don't see immediate success, you're out on your ear!" "Better study harder at Boyle County, kids, because first C you get in Geography, we'll be looking for your replacement." I guess we should wait and see.

Head Coaches make $8,000 to $12,000 a year at most of the schools and some are much higher i'm sure but if you figure the average out a head coach probably averages about a nickle an hour if it is that much...

For those with a wait and see attitude, I have one question. How often do you hear of the parents meeting with the Super???

Depends on what is being said. You can overreact or listen to the wrong story and have a meeting with the super fairly fast.

Well if Boyle County loses to Pulaski this week, it is all over...I just don't ever see that happening. Of course I would've never thought West Jessamine would've eneded their winning streak a few years back either.

Danville ended the streak a couple of weeks before West J.

It shouldn't happen in season...
