Jumper_Dad
I once wore shorts and short sleeves to put up hay, that was the first and last time I ever made that mistake. It was the first time I'd ever worked in hay and my arms and legs were "Ate up" by the end of the day :lol2:
Colonels_Wear_Blue
So, hopefully you wear the proper fall protection equipment now? Yessir. Of course technically in that case I was on the roof for an "inspection". It was back in my residential construction days, and I was up inspecting the roof after the tie-downs had been removed and sealed. I was standing on the roof peak and I had a subcontractor who I'd been trying to get scheduled call me...so I was talking on the phone, and I decided to light up a cigarette while I was talking to him. So when a particularly strong gust of wind blew and I went to adjust my footing, I ended up sliding down the roof and would have fallen 3 stories from the rooftop if I hadn't managed to catch my foot in the gutter (and tear the gutter 2/3 off of the fascia in the process). Ended up with road rash from the shingles down both of my arms, a broken cell phone from the 3-story drop, and a repair charge for the gutter. I quit smoking about 5 years after that. Bengal Maniac
Vote for a Democrat. I was going to say something along the same line, but a little different. But decided to keep politics out of it. So, I will say ask someone a personal question thinking I knew the answer, but didn't. The question was "When are you due?" You know the answer "I am not pregnant." There is just nothing you can do or say at that point. Total humiliation.

That gave me the chills just reading it. I had a friend who was on his house roof about two years ago and he slipped and fell to the ground. Broke him up pretty bad. He was in the hospital for a long time and has pins throughout his hips and shoulders. Due to infections he's had to have some of the surgeries redone. He was a robust fellow who was very active and it has definitely changed his lifestyle.

I haven't been able to help wonder from time to time what would have been different if I had actually fallen off the roof.
