Your right they have to jump through a few hoops (paperwork) but the state hardly investigates any of it. It is way to easy to transfer.

 

You are talking about kids who are already in a high school. This thread started I believe about kids in the 8th grade selecting a high school. If you have not been in a any high school you can go where ever you want. Why is that a transfer? If a kid at St. Mary's grade school goes to Campbell Co., is that a transfer? If you haven't ever been in a high school I don't think choosing one constitutes a transfer where ever you go.

If the kids played varsity ball then they would have to sit out a year.

For everyone's information there is only one person who knows which kids get financial aid (therefore don't pay full tuition). That is the person who administers the financial aid program.

I have a completely different take on this thread, especially as it relates to HHS basketball.

 

 

I look at this as why are the kids/parents looking to leave HHS and go somewhere else. Highlands has top notch academics, excellent community and parental support, brand new facilities, an established respected coach, and a very successful middle school feeder program.

 

 

In recent history, the W/L record would have looked much different with Ben Weyer in Blue and White versus Blue and Gold. Going forward the team would look much different with returning 2 year starter Posey at the PG and a young big man (that got varsity minutes last year) patrolling the paint rather than playing up on the hill at NCC.

 

 

This is not an NCC problem, this is a HHS problem that the Bluebirds need to figure out or the cycle will continue in years to come.

They look into it way more than people want to believe. People have to do quite a bit of hoop jumping to get ruled eligible. Anyone who does their homework and jumps through the hoops properly can retain their eligibility and in some cases you can do all of the homework, jump through the hoops and still not get eligibility and have to sit out a year.

If the kids are 8th graders it does not matter if they played high school basketball or not. You do not have a home school till you play high school as a 9th grader.

Both have had minutes at Varsity level but still doesn't mean they need to stay or should be denied from playing at another school, especially a parochial school like NCC.
