Covington Catholic 34 Beechwood 0

I wonder if CovCath could maybe play with Kettering Alter?

Anyway, solid special teams from the Colonels tonight.

Tough one next week for the Colonels. :scared:

Ah--for the record--Alter would shut them down defensively on a different level than what you are used to seeing. The final score would be something like 2-0 or 3-0 or 6-3. (Alter has a pretty good kicker as well).

The better team won tonight . . . . . . . . . .

And by the way--if you want a tape--send me a PM. Even the untrained eye could see the difference.

Actually impressed with the Beechwood defense blitz package at times. It will wreak havoc in Class A and gave CovCath fits at times. Of course it also led to several big plays for the CovCath offense since they have the weapons to overcome that type of heat.

Quickslick is going to need to do some spinning after this one -- he may feel differently about Alter's chances of rolling through No.KY (Unless CovCath was the ONE team you were talking about before the game).

Great Crowd. Not a great game -- very one-sided. No way Beechwood beats Ryle.

Super atmosphere tonight for a high school football game. By the way, it lasted every minute of 3 hours.

I don't need to spin anything. And no--I wasn't talking about CovCath. I was talking about Highlands--only because they have more overall team speed (but still not as much as Alter) I know that Beechwood didn't gain any yards against Alter. They did gain "some" against CovCath (134?).

Anyone who knows anything about football knows that you can't give up the ball four times to a good team and expect to win . . . . . . . . .

As I said in another post---the better team won tonight.

To be fair, you also said previously that "anyone expecting a blowout doesn't know anything about football." Now another "...anyone that knows anything about football..." How about we just leave it at this -- you clearly know football, as do others, and people predicting a blowout weren't far wrong.

I'll leave the how's and why's (turnovers and such) to Coach Rash and his staff -- they have a lot of wins on their schedule and I'm sure they'll make a deep run into the playoffs.

And for the RECORD--I WAS WRONG.

Like I said--if anyone wants to see some tape--send me a pm.

As far as the game goes . . . . the better team won tonight.

If the "hows and whys" would have worked out a differently--then it wouldn't be a blowout. But as a coach--you never count on those "hows and why's" . . . .

However--if anyone has anything to say to me--it should be about the above statement that hssportsrbest posted. Until you see Alter (again--I am offering up the tape if you want it) you can't comment.

CovCath LB Sam Flynn records 16 tackles to bring his career total to 301. Only two other CovCath LB's have acheived 300, David Paul and Mike Wolfe. Congratulations to Sam on his success, all of that hard work in the weight room has paid off well.

BTW, the call on the punt that Beechwood downed at the CCH 1 was the right call despite the fact that the kid was touching the goal line. In high school (and maybe college), its all about where the ball is and not the body of the player downing the ball.

The T.V. guys said, the kid pulled his hand back, and never touched the ball. Couldn't really tell on the replay.

When was the last time Beechwood was shut out in consecutive weeks?

Very tough loss for my Tigers. Congrats to the Colonels. The better team definately won.

On the bright side, the Tigers played two very good team in a row. This should make our boys hungrier and tougher for the games to come.

Nice crowd. Great fans on both sides. Wish I had won the split the pot.

Sam is a tremendous kid, who absolutely works his tail off. I just wish we could have kept him at Ryle. ;) Regardless of his football achievements, his parents should be very proud. BTW, that's some pretty nice company on that list!

Flynn is unreal. I don't know how he does it, but he's in on just about every play. You know every OC they play has to be trying to go away from him, and there he is. Fun to watch...

Any idea of how close he is to Paul's record?

Final yardage for the game:

CCH 330, BW 114.

Congrats to Cov Cath on their great win. I don't think I have seen a Beechwood team play that bad in a while. The fumble set the tone for the whole game. I wish I knew when was the last time a Beechwood team got shoutout in back to back weeks. I know it has to be a long time. I know it never did happen in the 90's. Maybe possibly in the 70's or 80's.

Any idea of how close he is to Paul's record?

I heard that he is somewhere between 70-80 tackles away from the record, but that could be wrong. He has been getting close to 15 tackles a game this year, so Sam is very, very capable of breaking that record.
