As cshs said, they have some very nice individual players, just they couldn't get it done as a unit. I thought Elliot made a lot of good decisions, just a few bad throws and dropped passes limited their offense. Most of the CCH football players were amazed at how fast Pete Kayotis (sp?) was. I remember watching him play basketball growing up, he was a great roundball player as well.

Anyone who knows anything about football knows that you can't give up the ball four times to a good team and expect to win . . . . . . . . .

The issue IMO was not turnovers. Yes, the first one led to an easy TD. The only other TO in the first half was on the 4th and goal play which would not have been successful had he held on to the ball.

The big issue was field position. Why did Coach Rash punt to Joe C.? He returned one inside the 50 and took the other to the house. That was the issue IMO.

What's the old saying about discretion being the better part of valor?

BTW, there was some "concern" among the blue side of the stands that there was a bad spot on a 4th down run by Brandon Brown. I watched the tape this morning and the blue faithful were 100% correct. Yes, his knee hit the 20 but the ball was inside the 19 when his knee hit. Bad spot but fortunately Joe C took the ensuing punt home so nothing lost.

CCH seemed to trim their penalties down a bit last night, but there are still too many dropped balls. They seemed to stop themselves a few times again.

but there are still too many dropped balls.

3 dropped balls on the drive that ultimately ended up in a FG that put them up 10-0.

I'd guess 5 to 6 legit drops in the game.

Wow, Im suprised that they didnt score.

I am a Beechwood fan, but I, and everyone around me thought that the field goal called "no good" was well inside the uprights. Since CCH did not argue and are not famous for suffering in silence, I decided the call must have been correct. How clear was the tv view?

Both teams need a case of stickum for their receivers. Dropped passes are a relative rarity for these two teams but there was a boat load of them last night.

Finally, are Joe C. and Flynn being recruited by anyone? These guys look like D-1 players to me. Perhaps not major-major, but either d-1 or high D-2. I would appreciate any info concerning their size and speed.

Earlier this year, I posted on a UK board that I liked Joe C, better than Englemon, primarily because Joe has an established position at db and has played that position for a long while. Naturarlly, the blue glass crowd disagreed...sight unseen.

I know for sure that Flynn is being recurited by some schools.

To answer my own question.....

I found out that Beechwood gained 83 yards on 7 penalties vs. their "0" gaining 114 yards.

John Wehry, the CovCath JV QB threw the game winning TD pass in the JV game today vs. Beechwood. CovCath was losing 6-0 when the Colonels took possession on the 50 yard line after a big punt return by Pat Fagel with 40 seconds left. The two play drive was a 40 yard pass to Austin Schneider and a 10 yard TD to Jake Punch with 10 seconds left.

Sounds like the Colonels took care of business. Not a very good confidence booster for the Beechies, getting rolled over like this. But I'm sure they'll bounce back. Good luck to both teams next week.

Better late than never...

I would agree with you to a large extent (and after spending more time with tape/film--it is easy to get a better after deal than right afterwards when you are thinking down a one way street). There were a lot of different things.

And--the fumbles and field position played hand and hand (for instance--the first offensive play of the game-Beechwood fumbles--Cov Cath recovers inside the 20--they score easy 2 plays later).

My point is that BW was down 24-0 with only one TO prior to the 4th down attempt at the goal line that was fumbled. Only one TD was affected by a TO in the first half. On the other hand, punting to Joe C cost Beechwood big time.

Why not punt the ball out of bounds and make CCH have a sustained drive?
