So basically tax the bejeezus out of any goods Mexico wants to sent to the US? I'd be okay with that.

I'm definitely not. I don't want the useless wall to begin with. Also, where will the money come from to maintain and staff this wall "in perpetuity"?

Corporations are going to pass this off to the consumer.

From what I've quickly read he doesn't just want to place the import tax on Mexican goods.

Can someone tell me when I'm supposed to say "free trade" is a good thing and when I'm supposed to say "free trade" is a bad thing?

If this occurs (and I hope it does not) then we can also expect US exporters to be slapped with additional taxes for goods shipped. That will not be good for the average Joe in the US working paycheck to paycheck OR for stockholders of public corporations.

Let's also consider a study I saw online today that said something like 45% of illegal immigrants did not sneak across the border. They overstayed their temporary work visas. The wall ain't keeping them out.

Is this wall really worth it?

How much is "too much" for this wall?

Rep Paul Ryan says $8B to $14B. History of estimates from the govt says it will be a lot more.

You than have to maintain it. It will have huge annual costs.

Interesting that you and others all of a sudden concerned about the cost of anything.

Equally interesting that you and others aren't.

The Trump administration just needs to come up with a misleading name for the bill that will fund the wall and require the government to compel the reimbursement of costs from Mexico. There is a precedent for this: the unaffordable "Affordable Care Act." Better yet, include the words "Affordable" and "Stimulus" in the bill's name and some Democrats will mistake it for one of their own. Something like:

Affordable Borders Economic Stimulus Act
