Those are california only numbers. They are accurate within a few percentage points to the point of what you can verify online. I've found nothing that disproves them besides some lefty trying to explain it away. What are the real numbers then if you are a disbelieving?

Here's an article from Pew Research.

It's addressing illegal immigration in the nation however and not CA alone.

Here's another good one that breaks down the Inbox clutter.

E-mails on illegal immigration are eye-opening - latimes

example:

2. "95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens . . . "

We traced this "fact" to a 2004 op-ed in The Times by Heather Mac Donald of the conservative Manhattan Institute for Policy Research. Mac Donald said "officers" told her about the warrants. She conceded that there were no such data in official reports but suggested the LAPD "top brass" was hiding the truth.

I called the LAPD's press office, which contacted the department's Fugitive Warrant Section. Officers confirmed that the statistics in item No. 2 and No. 3, which follows, don't exist.

example 2 about HUD housing:

8. "Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal."

Annie Kim, a spokeswoman for the Housing Authority of the city of Los Angeles, called this statement "an urban legend."

The source of the information may be an Associated Press report from earlier this year. It quoted a government study that found that 0.4% of residents of federally funded public housing are "ineligible noncitizens." Half of those, or about 0.2% of the total, are illegal immigrants.

I know you're at work Fear but there isn't a link to there. I tried Bing but couldn't find it under that heading.

Later on if you come up with a link I would love to read it. Thanks Man. :thumb:

Try U.S. Government Accountability Office (U.S. GAO) search illegal aliens... Other link not working? Lots of data there. Tons actually.

Let's look at the first stat regarding food stamps. A little over 45 million people are on foodstamps. If 43% are illegal, that would mean roughly 19 million illegals are receiving food stamps. That would mean 8 million more illegals are receiving food stamps than the actual number of illegals present in the US which is roughly 11 million. Obviously, just looking at numbers, there is no way that "fact" presented in the meme can be true.

It's 43% of the illegal population are on food stamps, not the total US population. Obviously the meme is skewed. Must have come from CNN originally. Actually I think Nancy and Elijah co-opted that one. I know the report is old and the illegal immigration problem has exploded since then. So you can take those numbers with a grain of salt and know that it's probably 100 times higher now. No way it's lower.

No. Re-read your meme. The meme specifically says, "43 percent of food stamps are given to illegals". Nice deflection though by trying to be funny with the CNN reference.

Also, regarding food stamps, remember, it's been illegal for non residents to receive food stamps since the late 90's. And studies have shown that only about 60% of eligible people even take advantage of Foodstamps, and only about 4 % of foodstamp are received by legal immigrants. To think that illegals are using foodstamps at an enormously high rate, is just buying into all the misinformation that's being circulated. Such as the meme you posted.

Not my meme. Its illegal to vote, get a drivers license and other things but there always seems to be a way. We can all dream right. They get the food stamps for all the kids they have here. The parents are still illegal but still get the benefits indirectly because of their anchor babies. Nice try saying it doesn't happen though. You need to spend more time in the hood, you're naive. And for the record I'm always funny. Why so serious????????????

I never said it doesn't happen. But it doesn't happen nearly as much as people would like to believe. And for your information, I've spent plenty of time in the hood. Lived in Philly for 5 years. Worked in retail in some of the roughest neighborhoods in Philly and New York City for almost 10 years. Worked in one of the rougher areas of Cincinnati in a high theft store for nearly 5 years. Lived in a trailer park until I was almost 10 years old. You can call me a lot things, but naive isn't one of them. You may think you know me, but you really have no idea who I am or what I'm about. You'd likely be surprised. Maybe if you did, you understand why I'm so "serious".

And since you introduced the meme into the thread to support your argument, yes, it is your meme, even if you weren't the creator.

Ok by thought process you take responsibility for every liberal, and democrat as well as their actions. Is that fair? I admitted that the meme's facts were skewed. Can you read...? More than CNN would have done.....

If I posted comments, meme's, blogs etc to support my argument from a liberal, then yes, I would have to own it if it turned out to be incorrect. I tend to try to make sure my source is solid before I post it as fact. And usually that means avoiding using memes to support my arguments. It's like when doing a research paper....if you use bad or incorrect sources to support your thesis, you're going to take a big hit on your grade. And while you did acknowledge the info in the meme might be skewed, you only did so after others poked some pretty big holes in the statements. Kind of like CNN does, now that you mention it. Even then, you defended the meme as being fairly accurate and still used it to defend your position. If you felt the meme was inaccurate, why post it in the first place, without a disclaimer of it's inaccuracy??

And to answer your question, yes I can read. And once again, you gotta throw an insult in and make it personal.
