i don't disagree with the statement about our wealth as a country. My point was people talk out of both sides of their mouths on the issue of helping those in need in our own country. On one hand, we say we should help our own out, but then on the other, people want the programs that do help them shut down or reduced. Can't have it both ways.

Do politicians ever give it to you straight?

I'm not just talking about politicians regarding this, and it has nothing to do with anyone "giving it to us straight". Just go through BGP and you'll find plenty of instances of people complaining about Social programs like welfare, extended unemployment etc....those types of programs are very unpopular on this site. They cost too much, encourage laziness, etc. And heaven forbid if we want to add new programs. Yet those are the types of programs that could help veterans and the homeless. We can't cry that were not doing enough to help, when we want to eliminate or reduce the programs we have in place that do help.

I get that point. I've always said that we don't have a revenue problem in Washington, we have a priority problem. There is a difference between a handout and a hand up. All programs should be geared towards self sufficiency if that person is able.

When do we start the one on the Canadian -especially Quebec- border?

Do you ever fact check this stuff? A hint of truth + an over reach without data.

Just One State - Cost of Illegals in Los Angeles

I say build the wall but do it because of the truth, not sensationalism.

Looks like a viral tweet with little basis in FACT.

It's actually fairly accurate with some numbers harder to verify than others. To dismiss it wholly when even snopes can't means what?

Part of the problem is that much of the meme is based on a testimony by a lady who cited much of it but there are no footnotes to confirm her testimony or research to back up some of the claims.

One of the things I've learned is too many people grab a thought they like and don't verify or research to see if there's data to support the conclusion.

Those are california only numbers. They are accurate within a few percentage points to the point of what you can verify online. I've found nothing that disproves them besides some lefty trying to explain it away. What are the real numbers then if you are a disbelieving?

Why do I have to do the research when I'm not the one who posted the thing?

Why is it that others have to do the real work of checking out what someone else posts?

And even if I or someone else did, we will be told "you're just a lefty trying to explain things away." :ohbrother:

Actually you are wrong in your reply.

5,8,3 and 1 all do not specify California.
