The Wall

I'm not the spin doctor lol. I'm saying I could see that being their spin.

I don't really care how we pay for the wall. I think it's probably money well spent compared to the other things we waste it on.

I don't care if we pay for the wall. Just don't lie about it. I bet 99% of the people for the wall don't care who pays for it. We all knew and know who is going to pay for it. He didn't have to try to play us for fools and dummies.

So if by chance we do write the check for it, does it still mean we paid for it if it increases business revenue by as much or more than the wall costs to build? Mexico makes billions of $$$ per year from American companies setting up shop there. If Mexico won't write the check and Trump gets those companies and jobs back into the USA, are we really paying for the wall in the grand scheme of things? Honestly I think that's how this will play out and it has already started. Mexico see's the writing on the wall and already wants to negotiate this issue.

I think Trump is proving to be a very savvy businessman who is finding a knack to make people and eventually countries do what he wants them to do. His ability to do so is very impressive and I like it. I won't front on that because it appears his tactics are working. No problem with that at all from me and no problem from me if this scenario plays out as you have written it. I'll like it even more if I can get some kick back on down the road when the money is flowing back in.

Great post! Unity. See we are not divided after all. :lol2: J/K PP92 You are a good man. You give props when they are due, no matter the side.

I will always keep it real. Only way I know how to be. :D

A fence and a wall are two very different things though. It will cost way more to construct a wall than a fence primarily used to stop vehicles.

We're good for the money right, 221,000,000 here and there.

How much is "too much" for this wall?

Rep Paul Ryan says $8B to $14B. History of estimates from the govt says it will be a lot more.

You than have to maintain it. It will have huge annual costs.

Trump is about to sign off on a border wall with Mexico — here's how much it could cost - Yahoo Finance

This article has it much higher than that.

Exactly. My whole point.

I've been on the side of border security for as long as it's been an issue and I was able to vote. If Trump just said, "We are going to build a wall!" and left off the part about Mexico paying for it, I wouldn't say a word. Cool. Let's build it. But, he lied about it, so here we are.

Let's say the wall gets built. What exactly are people even hoping it will do?

My next question was going to be what happens when this wall that Mexico didn't pay for doesn't keep the illegals out? Then what? Probably a topic worthy of its own thread.

Yep. The drugs and illegals will still come. Wall or no wall.

I certainly don't want to spend what the estimates are on this wall. If Mexico hands us a blank check then by all means. But other than that I don't see throwing a dime at it as a good use of our money.

Did Obama say he wasn't sending them money? I miss something? Trump said Mexico was paying for it. He meant New Mexico and the other 49 states.

Yep. The drugs and illegals will still come. Wall or no wall.

It may slow them down but it will take more than a wall to stop them completely.
