NCC hoops exodus

I just can't believe this thread is this long... who cares what happened? Were they assets to the team? Were they a cancer to the team? If both answered "no" then leave it be. These kids don't need to hear people bashing them because they made a choice to better themselves elsewhere. Good grief

You make it sound so simple and okay for this generation to walk out on committment and teammates. Got to have a solid base to build around, and our older generations preached over and over..."no matter how tough it gets, you don't quit". Success is not learned by operating only in one's comfort zone. Steel is hardened by heat.

It is that simple. And just a heads up, the times have changed. Also, I'm pretty certain, that if they are in fact footballers, quitting to focus on that to better themselves is fine. And the success from their football program says a lot.

Wow! Your first sentence blew me away and the admonition was totally unexpected. Back in my day the different sports' coaching staffs worked closely together and the players knew they could never quit mid-season on one sport and be allowed to participate in any activities of another sport. Kept poaching of players from happening, built supportive relationships across all sports, and kept divisiveness out of the equation. Simple rule...."you don't quit." Life lesson learned well that will serve generations to come.

Rookies, lol.
Rookies leave the default settings ;)

Some schools actually have a rule that you can't participate in any other sports until the sport you quits season has ended. I like that.

Yes but doesn't NCC have like 350ish students split 50/50 between boys/girls? Doesn't work in all schools.

And what schools are these you speak of.

I guess in your mind these boys are complete quitters and will always be that. I don't believe in quitting either but everyone situation is different and unless you know them personally you shouldn't label them IMO.

Yes they have!

Totally disagree with your attempted diversion. As hs students, they may or may not turn out to be complete quitters. But, it is the adult's acceptance of quitting teams mid-season to pursue other more attractive endeavors that have failed miserably in these valuable teaching moments. As parents, coaches, teachers, or counselors there are few of these opportunities that will leave life-long impressions.

There will be many opportunities to learn life lessons we are talking about 15 and 16 year olds. Leaving the team may and regret doing so teach them life long lessons.

I hope nobody on here that is bashing these kids for quitting have ever quit a job or anything else.

South Laurel has that rule.
