UK's offensive line play was terrific and Stephen Johnson was really good as well. Defense played a pretty good 2nd half too. And we can't forget about MacGinnis, who has now kicked a pair of difficult game-winners.

 

As for UL, the defense was poor, particularly getting beat deep. And while Jackson made some amazing plays, he also cost his team dearly in the 2nd half.

How is it possible for Jackson to be soosooo good, but at times just soosooo bad. lol

 

I am sad the season is almost over (I’m one of the few who likes football more than basketball)….. but super excited that we get to watch Lamar next year (and maybe the following??). Plenty of time to work and mature and hopefully we’ll see less mistakes and even more excitement next year.

The turnovers are going to be a consequence of that exciting scrambling. I've come to terms with that. One really bad INT yesterday in the long pass where he really underthrew one to Samuel.

 

None of it matters if the defensive front gets pressure and the secondary stays ahead of the play. Oregon is proof of exactly how many big games you can win with top execution on only one side of the ball.

Fact: 6 (1, 5, 9, 11, 18 & 25) SEC teams ranked in the ESPN preseason Top 25. 4 (1, 13, 15 & 17) teams ranked in the ESPN preseason Top 25 before the final game of the regular season (and Tennessee is questionable to remain after this week). Only Florida has improved over season. Overrated.

 

Fact: Texas A&M was ranked 4th in the 1st playoff ranking and now can't be found with a search warrant. Overrated.

 

Maybe the SEC was overrated; however it is always easier to stand at a safe distance and declare it rather than having to play an actual SEC schedule. Especially an SEC West schedule.

I think everyone should go back and read all of the early September threads about UK/Stoops etc. Lots and lots of moronic statements and it is a nice reminder to read what all the experts had figured out then.

Stoops deserves props for this year. However a lot broke UKs way over the course of the year. Not completely ready to say U.K. Has turned the corner for good.

What about using current rankings. Clemson's win at Auburn has proven to be a really good road win even though the Tigers weren't yet ranked.

 

By the same token, those teams with a win over a ranked Notre Dame squad have come to discover that it was fools' gold.

Maybe, but his margin for error to make a bowl is razor thin (and the difference in consecutive seasons of 5-7 and no bowl and 7-5). Most years UK has to win every non-conference game (minus Louisville) and hope they can pick off 3 SEC opponents to be bowl eligible - that has proven to be tough over the years.

I thought I agreed with you about the SEC being down this year. I have no problem with that, but your opinion about the SEC typically being overrated is just your opinion, nothing more nothing less.

 

Absolutely correct. Not sure if such a statement is "provable" as fact, so any statement (whether "SEC = overrated" or "SEC is not overrated" is just the writer's opinion.

It's been his pattern all season. Laying one on the ground in the redzone is the worst. I'm a huge fan. But the best player in the nation shouldn't donate possessions as often as he has. Part of his maturation as a player and hopefully his numbers next year will be so otherworldly that it will boggle the mind. Ball security has to be his major focus going forward.
