Yes, also it would mean the republicans in NY and Cal and Dems in Texas would have a bigger voice.

 

If KY had been a toss up we would have got numerous visits from both candidates. If Florida suddenly swung 10 points left or right, they would be ignoring it largely to campaign somewhere else.

Heard someone on TV this morning while I was getting ready to leave. Who ever it was said that the popular vote is misleading, in that there were states such as California, Oregon, Washington and New York that Trump largely ignored and there were a core group of southern states that Clinton largely ignored. If Trump for example spent more time out west he could have easily picked up enough votes to give him a lead in the popular vote, while still losing each of those states electors.

 

Would Trump have won a popular vote had he went out west, we will never know. Would HRC have won the election if it was based on the popular vote and both candidates had campaigned knowing that from the beginning, we will never know.

I don't care who won the election this year. The EC has no place in the 21st century. If Trump ran a campaign on elitism those of you who voted for him should not support the EC. It is the epitome of elitism just review @Habib 's post earlier in this thread, which is better than any article you can post or research.

I completely disagree. This country needs to keep the EC. We don't need only a handful of large cities deciding the election.

I remember a lot of people saying that when all absentee ballots were counted Bush would have more than Gore. Turned out that was false as well.

I love it. Obamacare was opposed (and still is) by a majority of Americans but we were scolded that sometimes the view of the majority had to be disregarded for the betterment of the whole.

 

Now that their slim majority has been rebuked by a system that ensures that people other then those that live in big cities have a voice in elections it's majority rules.

For all of those that want to do away with the Electoral College, why didnt you bring it up before this election?

Do you really want your President elected by the large East & West Coast cities?? Out of curiosity, how are any or all of those cities doing financially with their decades of liberal rule??

 

Most large cities in this country are technically bankrupt due to their insanely liberal policies and pensions for their public employees; even though they all are among the highest taxed entities in the country. Sounds like a format that would be wise to bring to the country??

I heard that there are something like around 5,000 counties in the US, Hillary Clinton won the Popular vote but only won around 300 counties...just something to think about.

And if you lived in a large city you'd be asking "do I want rural America electing our President?". The problem with your argument is you sound as if you are saying people that live in large cities are incapable of making good election decisions and therefore their votes shouldn't mean as much or should be marginalized.

First off Hellcats Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. We both want whats best for the good ole USA and today is a day to give thanks for our freedom to be able to speak our minds.

 

However this is sour grapes at best. You know as well as I do that the EC is here to stay. And Trump is a idiot too if he thinks its going.
