Remember those numbers don't represent total population. 5% of suburban vote just represents somewhere around 2 million votes which mean nothing in this nation. :banghead:

On a side note, if I were a President taking office, one of the first things I would require is a photo ID to vote. Make it law with the stroke of my pen. :lol2:

No argument here. Just make it available and affordable for all and allow time to get them especially the elderly.

So who doesn't have a picture ID and I am sure their are some but really who doesn't have one, not anyone born in the last twenty or thirty or years!

 

I went to the SS office to apply (hey I am Old) and the first thing they asked for was a picture ID. I go to the Bank to open an account, yep they ask for a picture ID. What to rent an apartment? Yep picture ID? Buy a gun? Yep picture ID? Get a Library Card? Yep picture ID. Buy a beer? Yep picture ID. Get on a plane? Yep picture ID. Rent a Hotel room? Yep picture ID. I go to vote? Yep picture ID. For those that know me well enough, all my guy's have picture ID's and none of them have Drivers Licenses.

I have never missed an election in all my life and in other than this year's Republican Primary (and it was a joke done by the Tea Party Nitwits) I have never had to stand in line longer than 20/30 minutes to vote. I have never been late to work nor have had to leave early because I get my butt up at 5am and go vote when the polls open and in the day's when I had to go to work at 5am, as soon as I got off work I went to my polling place to vote.

I never made that statement. No vote ever cast was as important as the service that our military has given to this country.

 

Let's stay focused and away from the hyperbole. Voting is not a pledge to those who contributed to this great nation. It is each citizen's ( dead or alive :lol2:) right to voice opinion on the direction of the country.

 

I still say stand in line 1-4 hours and see how many times you vote. I wouldn't once, and I ain't ashamed to admit that. That has nothing to do with patriotism and more to do with I have responsibilities in my life, and I can't sacrifice that time.

Engage by being a responsible citizen fulfilling your duty. In states that requires ID the state will provide one free, if you do not have a driver's license. Many states have made it easy to vote early, by mail and extended voting periods. A citizen may have rights, but it is their duty and responsibility to make use of those rights.

I just don't understand why it should be so hard.

Should people be responsible...sure...but the world still turns just as hard on Election Day.

Now let's throw in a civic duty that is out of the way and will take a disproportionate amount of time and when it comes down to it if your state is red or blue and you're the opposite your vote doesn't matter.

 

It's pretty easy to understand the apathy in +50% of the electorate.
